Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

I WONDER HOW MANY GALLONS PER HR. THOSE FOUR WILL COST YOU??? MY GUESS 30-35 GPH AT AROUND 4200 RPM’S AND NOW LETS SEE 5 HRS OF FUN RUNNING TIME, HUM THAT’S 175 GALLONS OR GAS AT $2 PER GALLON THAT’S $350.00 BONES PLUS OIL, BAIT, ICE, ETC. SOUNDS LIKE THAT’S MORE FUN THAT I WANT IN ANY ONE DAY OF FISHING.

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

Man, I bet that it burns over 40gph! My single 225 merc burns about 15, and my old man's jupiter w/ twin 225 four strokes burns 25, so that thing has gotta really suck some gas. We had a 36 Fountain here a month ago for a striper tourney that had quad 250's strapped to it. Impressive, but until the lottery fairy shows up, I'd have to pass!

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

The Hooter's boat is a 38 Fountain Te with quad merc 250xs moters. The 38 gets around the same fuel economy with triple engines that it does with twins, and believe it or not, the quad set up gets around the same economy as the trips. It does burn a-lot per hour, but at 60-65 mph cruise, your looking at about 1.2 to 1.4 mpg. Although, I wouldn't want to be the guy paying for 2 stroke oil! The reason the fuel economy stays good is because the engines aren't working as hard.

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

by my calculations, that's 70+gph! Ouch. My wallet hurts thinking about that

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

How about this one at 15 gph or 2 miles per gal. at 30 mph.

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

YOU GUYS NEED TO GO TO SOME SOUTHERN KINGFISH ASS. TOURNYS THEY HAVE EVERYTHING FROM ECONSIPPERS TO QUADS ON A PIROGUE ( THATS A FRENCH CANOE TO THOSE NOT FAMILIER WITH THEM )THE QUADS DO SERVE A PURPOSE ON THOSE BOATS THEY CAN LEAVE AT THE SAME TIME AND FISH FARTHER AWAY AND STILL MAKE WEIGH-IN ON TIME. THE FUEL IS NOT AN ISSUE WHEN SOMEBODY ELSE (SPONSORS) PAY FOR IT.

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

I think I remember a report on that boat in the picture.
36 Yellowfin w/3 300 mercs WOT 1/2 tank of fuel was 72mph
90gph. I can't imagine those being any better.

Doghouse4x4 03-05-2005 10:58 AM

Re: ENOUGH POWER ???

Now if I could just get that sponsor so I can quit my job and fish all day and burn all the gas I want......
