Our 1979 23 Seacraft

Well haven seen what some people have done with their SC, we have decide to take ours to get rebuilt. We are taking it to HermCo. He will be putting on a bracket, inclosing the transom, rebuilding the boat, painting, and all the little mock-ups we won't. We will be taking it up on Sunday 03-13-05. He is also fixing the soft spot on the port side of the console. We are getting a new engine, or used one. We hope to get twin 150's but might end up with a single. Here are some of the before pics. Hope to get Don at HermCo to take some pics of it in progress, and have some after pics. But for now here are the before pics. I will be updating you on the progress, as we or he get pics.

I also forgot to post my question, how many of you guys closed of the vents on the sides, or did you leave them or take one set off. If we were to take them both out and close up the holes, would we need some other sort of ventaltion? Thank You

SeaMaster, I too have a 1978 but I think my console is different than yours. If you go with twin 150's I think that is an awesome power package, I would also seriously consider twin yam 130's. Pretty good gas mileage, 27kt cruise and 45mph top. I had them on the boat before my 115 4s Suzuki's. 150 may up the top end by 5mph but will probably burn 17-18gph vs 14 with the 130's. You'll get good oomph from the 130's. I assume you are buying used or leftover engines to save $$$. You will be disappointed with a single 225 in my opinion.

How much time is herm going to take? Dare I ask a ball park estimate of what you plant to spend?

SeaMaster 03-10-2005 05:24 PM

Re: Our 1979 23 Seacraft

Briguy thank you for the info. As far as how long on the HermCo part, he is not sure because he has only seen pics and not the actual boat. We think it will probably be 2 months or less. At least that is what we hope. We also plan on spending maybe 20,000 or so at HermCo, then new electronics, and engines, we aren't sure about.

Hey,

I am looking for someone to restore my 83 23' i/o with a jackdrive. The boat is in good shape, but I'd like to restore her for the long haul. Can you tell me anything about the guys that are restoring your boat? I'd like to contact them to discuss my boat.

Thanks,

John

Well ScottM gave you he link i found them on. Don is a very nice, cool guy.

Well we just got back from taking the boat. He said the time it is done all depends on when the painter can paint it.

The day we left wasn't our best day. We woke up to a flat tire. So we had to fix it before we could take the boat.

Sorry about the pics being different sizes. I can't find out how to keep them 640 x 480 and 35K! I use photobucket.com so if you know how to do this please help. Thanks

Re: Our 1979 23 Seacraft (more pics)

There's your problem. 35K
A 640X480 pix will be around 90K to 118K.

Re: Our 1979 23 Seacraft (more pics)

Yea but is there a way to keep it 640x480 and 35k because otherwise the pics are small.

If you resize your photos on your photoshop software on your computer to 640x480 pixels first, then save it. Now you can upload them to photobucket or which web site you choose. Then they will correctly appear on CSC when you tag the properties.

BTW: Mr. P and I were at Hermco the other day and I saw your SeaCraft first hand. It's looking could

Photobucket automaticly resizes them too if their larger than 250kb.

No. They are directly proportional. Just make them all 640X480. Are you worried that you are using up to much space on PhotoBucket? You can alway's spring for some $ and get more space.

SeaMaster,

Are you getting the deck replaced? Also, are you getting it painted on both the inside and outside?

SeaMaster.

Any new pictures????

Re: Our 1979 23 Seacraft (more pics)

SeaMaster Why do you want to keep them at 35K? That's your problem. 640X480 is close to 100K. [give or take]

100K is not to much band width for the server.

When I get some new pics i will try the posting again. But all he is doing is preping it for paint there is nothing to really show, that is different. Our 2004 150 HPDI's got to HermCo yesterday. We moved the console forward some! Gained alot of room. The nonskid on the inside is a faint ice blue, so if won't be so bright! I will be happy to answer any other questions you may have!
