Pictures of my Resored '75
This is my first attempt at trying to post pictures in a thread. These are a few from this past weekend. The boat is getting there. I am excited how this 2 year project has turned out, although there is always something else to do.
Here goes... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1547Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1557Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1554Small.jpg She is a little dirty. I had taken a group over to the beach. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1553Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1552Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1551Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1550Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1549Small.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22..._1548Small.jpg I would like to thank everyone on the site for the advice and motivation. I couldn't and wouldn't have done it without y'all. I hope you enjoy!!!! I am thinking about naming her "Class Act" what do you think? CMB |

Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Here is a link that shows the boat in progress.
http://www.ofoto.com/BrowsePhotos.js...it&rnd=1268927 I will be happy to answer any questions. Since I bought the boat in February of 2003: the deck has been replaced (except for the forward casting deck), console reglassed, transom customized for a huge livewell/fishbox/cooler, everything painted, a new t-top put on, the whole boat re-wired, all new electronics and I am sure several other things I am forgetting. I had a lot of help from some very skilled poeple in the Charleston, SC area. I am taking her on her first offshore trip this Sunday if the weather holds. Thanks for the replies...keep 'em coming!! Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
CM,
Very nice work. "Class Act" is a great name for that boat. |
Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
CM, That's quite alot of work, but as you know, well worth it. "Class Act" fits it to a tee! Done just in time for the season too. Congradulations on a job well done and good luck!- PF

Re: Pictures of my Resored '75

NICE work, have fun with it.. |
Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Let's get down to the NITTY GRITTY! How fast is she? What kind of fuel do you carry? Who made the bracket? Does she sit low in the stern with that power? Are you overall happy?
|
Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
I have had her up to 60 mph but think with proper trim on a flat day I could get another 3-5 mph out of her. I added another fuel tank in the storage area right in front of my console door. All together she holds right around 180 gallons. Stainless Marine made the bracket. It was on the boat when I bought it. If I was to buy new I would get a Hermco...she does sit heavy. I have to plug the deck drains. Before my additions of the T-top, baitwell and everything else she was barely self-bailing but right now she's not close ( 1-2 inches below the water line). This makes me nervous but the boat never stays in the water over night and there are two 2000 gph bilge pumps on different floats switches rigged directly to different batteries that each have their own hoses spitting out on either side of the hull. I have ordered new trim tab blades. I had 12x9's and am going to replace those with 12x12's (Thanks Tabman for the advice). I think this will make the boat more responsive and help keep the bow down a little better. On Sunday, I ran offshore and traveled about 180 miles total ( I have yet to fill her back up and calibrate the flowscan but I figure I burned 120-130 gallons)...it was 3 to 4 and pretty stacked up. I think with the new tabs it would have been a litte nicer ride but overall I am very happy and love the boat. We kept 4 nice dolphin and even passed a much larger center console on the way in
Keep the Question coming!!! I love when people stare as I ride past and when people ask "What kind of boat is that?" I love these boats!! CMB |
Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Does anybody just plug up the old, inefficient (and probably way undersized) scuppers and add 2 to 4 large, rectangular scuppers (with flaps), then drain the cockpit/deck area to a sump(s) with adequate pumps? Ideally, the bilge is tight and dry, you are only dealing with spray on the deck (while running), and the new, large scuppers would come into play when and if you took a wave or got pooped a little.

Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Great job. You really have to see the work in progress pictures to appreciate all the work

Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Hey! With my Vintage ACBA stuff going on with my dad's skiff I don't have a lot of time for the SeaCraft but I will travel to a SeaCraft event anywhere in the Carolinas! Can't answer for Part I, but I am in! Would like to meet you guys for a beer anytime! Vezo, Part II. Traveling to Jacksonville Friday for a brand new aluminum trailer half price for the JS-04! Can't beat that!

Re: Pictures of my Resored '75
Do you tow the boat with a triple axle trailer? How big is the livewell!
|
Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
I do tow the boat with a triple axle trailer. That is what came with the boat. It is an Owen and Sons and was custom fit to the boat. I bought the boat 11 miles north of Key West and trailered it all the way back to Charleston, SC. On the way home I blew a tire and wouldn't have noticed except for the car that told me as they passed by. It is definite overkill and more maintenance but I guess it is safer. The tight turns make me nervous as it feels like the back tire on the turn side is getting pulled off sometimes. The livewell is very big. I filled it up with a five gallon bucket ten times and there was still room for more water. It is over 50 gallons and probably about 60 gallons. I use it for empty cans or as a fishbox when it is not being used as a livewell.

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
I live about 11 miles from Key West never saw this boat. Where exactly was it at?

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
The boat was on Big Coppit Key. You might not recognize it if you had seen it before.....she has gone through a lot of changes!!
CMB |
Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
I live on Big Coppeit, right across the street from Cicle K, I think that boat was down the street from me. We use to see one that looked exactly like that and was for sale.

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
My boat was bright red when I bought it. I bought it from a young guy named Steven. It was parked near the end of a street at his parents house and all he had to do was back it up about 20 feet to launch it in the canal behind the house. What a beautiful area you live in!! I think the name of the street was Jade Dr. I guess you must live close to there?? Small world.
CMB |
Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
Yep, jade is one steet north of us. Yea I realy like the area where we live. But getting out of the bay on mini season is kind of difficult. Sure is a small world. Where do you live. Next time you come down this way you can bring the boat here and dock it, and we could take both boats out fishing or something! Good Luck on the boat! Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
While out looking at our boat a few minutes ago, we had the guy who you bought the boat from walk down to see our boat. I told him about your restoration on his boat. So he is going to check it out he said. He now has a 1977 Sceptre. Its a small world we live in.

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
I am glad Steven is in another seacraft. I bet he wouldn't recognize his old boat. I think your boat came out amazing. I had thought about having a lot of the work done down there but wanted to be a part of it and work on the boat myself as much as possible. I trailered it back to Charleston, SC and started my 2 year restoration process. You will love the boat. I am amazed at how well these boats ride with the bracket and twins. I would love to hear some performance numbers after you get her in the water. My 200 Mercs are a little thirsty but reliable. I would love to eventually swap them out for something more economical like your HPDIs. Take it easy and enjoy your "New" boat!!

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
Thanks for the comments i will make sure to let you know the performance numbers.

Re: Pictures of my Restored '75
I've been looking at that boat wishing Hermco was on the west coast. I love that offset door. They can really makeover a boat.
