Make a great family boat Brian, that camper canvas is cool... Tie up at Ocean City and be out at the 30 line by 6:00am... .but you may have to get a Chevy to tow it

It is a real deal at $9500, I spoke with the owner, very nice gentleman, and it sounds great. I too like the campertop I have never seen one with full canvas.

a friend of mine has an AMF Slickcraft 235 with a similar canvas set up...it really increases the useability of the boat.

Re: 1980 23 Sceptre w/ Twin 470's @ 170HP each
Anyone know an approximate weight for this rig? If my truck can pull it I might be interested. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner that can pull 6000 lbs.

Re: 1980 23 Sceptre w/ Twin 470's @ 170HP each
My guess would be that between the engines, trailer and boat it would be right around 6,000 (give or take 500 pounds).
FYI, I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a class three hitch. It has 108k miles on it. According to the book I should not pull more than 5,000 pounds. I use it to pull close to 6,000 pounds. I do not worry at all on any short journeys. I have pulled the boat 100 miles several times and it was fine. I just took my time. However, I don't think that i would use my Jeep to pull my SeaCraft from NJ to Florida. My long winded point to you is that if you would use your current rig to pull the boat a short distance you will probably be fine. |

Hi Trayder,
I'm interrested in the boat. How many hits you getting on it. How are the engine mounts holding up on it. A friend of mine in Va kept breaking one. I'm deployed now but will be home in a month or so. I'll contact you then. Mike |

Re: 1980 23 Sceptre w/ Twin 470's @ 170HP each
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but find it as great as Classicmako.com. Although I don't run a Seacraft I admire the older models for this quality and design. I stumbled upon this site a while back, and used info posted here to help me restore my 16 center console sportcraft.
Now down to business. My Grady White used to be power with those motors, although my motors had the 4bbl carbs and pumped out 180 hp each. Two years ago I pulled those motors and dropped in two Cummins-Mercruise DTI Diesel I/O's, and the boat performed like a champ. 23 kt cruise and 30 kts in the corner, and my Grady is a LOT more boat to push (cabin, weigh etc, etc,) then that this Seacraft. Although those 470's look like they're in near mint shape, and the boat probably gets very good fuel economy I could only imagine what benefits twin little diesels would do for it. I wish I didn't have my current Grady, I'd buy this boat. |
