What trim tabs for 1977 23' CC?
Picking up Angelfish's 23' Sea Craft and need to think hard about what additions to make to the new boat. Anyone have any suggestions what trim tabs seem to work well for that boat? I'm leaning toward Bennett Tabs and am considering the batwing design that are for boats up to 23'. Not sure if anyone has any experience with them. Smaller tabs that are supposed to generate more lift with that design? Pros/Cons? Where to place them? Thanks for the feedback in advance!

I am running 12x12's on mine- bout as wide as you can run. the bat-wing jobs performance is probably better than the standards i would reason because of reduced slippage on the inside and outside of the tabs. Maybe Tabman Tom will chime in here. Congrats and Good luck with the new boat!!!!! craig

Bennett 12" x 12" will work perfectly. Here's pic of my 1978 23' prior to the transom redo. You need to place them as far outside of the chine as possible http://www.theboatzone.com/albums/CSteele/res8258.jpg |

Congrats on finally finding the "One" !! Try searching for "Tabman" as Tom has talked about this in the past. I know there was a thread that I think Otto started after the Miami boat show that talked about the differences between the two |

Scott,
I have the Bennett M-120 batwing design recomended by Tabman on my 23 CC. They are performing great without a problem.-PF |

Capt__Chuck, great photo and great boat. You mentioned having transom work done. I notice a lot of SC owners have put in solid transoms with a bracket. If you had a "soft" open transom could you get away with just rebuilding it as is? It seems like it would save a lot of money vs. enclosing it, adding a bracket, new and longer control cables, risking porpoising with the bracket, etc. Do trim tabs work well with a bracket?

BTW: I had Mr Potter on the boat last Thrusday for a couple of hours. We tested the boat and it's performance and he was quite impressed http://floridasportsman.com/art/worthy.gif I would say that you need to ride in a bracketed 23' before you make a final decision Check the final deal here ---------> Bracket |

Want to make your 12X12 Bennett's respond even better?
Check this option out that Bennett has. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...c/IMG_0363.jpg http://www.classicmako.com/forum/top...?TOPIC_ID=4623 |

Glad to here someone from this sight got the boat. I fish out of the same marina as Angelfish and looked at the boat a few times and talked to them on occasion. They really loved that boat I really don’t know about the real condition of the boat but from my times around it I think you got a good boat there. Ya you might need some things done on her but for the most part I don’t thing this boat was abused by any collision type damage, you might need to do some re building but on a Potter built hull that’s the norm. You northern guys need to stop stealing our boats from down here and bringing them back up north. Oh by the way Bennett 12"x12" is the way to go either style will work great. The M120's are 10X12, but with the Batwing style they give the same effect as a 12X12.

Re: What trim tabs for 1977 23' CC?
Thanks for all the input. I'm leaning toward the batwing 10x12's but will see which one I get a better price on. Anyone a firm believer in Lenco? Bennett seem to have more support by the users. Both have good customer service I believe. For installing them myself anyone have any great advice?
Can't wait to take her out. I'll be getting in touch regarding some outfitting questions soon I'm sure. Been a while since anyone has referred to me as a Northern guy... hahaha here in NC. I'm easy going when it comes to such things but some people would probably prefer to remove the word "North" out of the state name. What a melting pot we have in our state.
