Newport Get together check in
Since the other thread was a shade on the long side and would not show up on the main forum here is a new one.
Plan: Raft up in front of Ft. Adams around 12-1pm. listen to Jazz for a few hours and then leisurly meet up at our home around 6:30-7pm for a cook out. I need the following an idea on how many people are coming to the cook out I have the following for sure: Capt. Chuck Scott and Robin Chris and Phylis Scott and Kelly John R Jim L who else? I will have a grill and Hamburg meat / buns, ketchup, mustard, relish, but need the following Plates (plastic) brats or Hot dogs some sort of festive summer salad (potato, slaw, etc) and suggestions on what else. I will also have ice and coolers and some soda but everyone should bring their own beer. Thanks Guys Jason |

look forward to meeting you. I am hoping we will have a good turnout of boats at the Jazz fest. It is alot of funn to raft up and see all the boats in the water. |

Jason, I'm still hoping to make it. My August duty schedule is tight but I'd like to hang out in Newport that weekend. Can I still leave my 20 at your house if we show up early friday? We'll be staying at a B & B in town. I should know by late next week, after we get back from Montauk! Jim

Jason, sorry for the late post, I should have called you. I can not make it to Newport. I am just exhausted from work and on recall. This hot summer has set new records for insane boaters on Long Island Sound. I know you guys will be having a blast so be safe and take pics!

I just got back from saving an 18 Skater with a merc 300x that riped the bow of the boat off after nosing it into a wake at high speed. Three people went into the water, fortunatly no one got hurt. I can't believe this boat didn't sink. Welp, have one for me. Cheers. |

Nice meeting all you guys. That was a lot of fun, I'm sure I'll come down next year too! Thanks for the Tuna tips, on the way home we saw about 12 different schools of tuna making the water boil, so we fished for about 15 minutes (had to get home in time to catch the launch) and got 1 tuna in the boat out of 3 hookups. One fish popped off for no reason, one peeled off line for about 30 seconds, tried to spin the boat around to chase it but snapped the line at the last second as we tightened the drag before we were spooled. He got away with a lure.
The one we got in the boat was enough to feed 14 people last night along with some leftovers for today! I can't wait to go back down later this week, hopefully they'll still be around! |

It was great putting faces to names and seeing such fabulously restored boats. It’s too bad I had to leave early. I heard the afternoon fishing featured a nice “wind against current steep chop” to test the seaworthiness of the var. deadrise hulls. Glad to know that all passed with flying colors – drenchings notwithstanding.
I also had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with JohnR for the first time that morning. He was instrumental in our success of getting a bunch of tuna in the boat under challenging sea conditions. |

Glad i made it to spend some time to shoot the $hit and put some more names with faces! The tuna was a nice bonus!! I ended up down river in Bristol with the BBB's (Bruiser Boozer Brothers). It was a great turn out this year and I want to thank everyone for making the trip, Chuck from Florida, Jim M from Maryland Chris D., Scott M and Nick from Boston Scott P. from Jersey, and of course the local boys, Paul, Rich, and Jim L. We could not of planned a better weekend and the fishing was an added bonus.

And to be redundant and echo the sentiments of all above…. What an awesome time we had !!!! Was great to see and meet everyone for the first time (of course all the repeat offenders !!!)
Many Thanks Nadine and Jason ( oh yeah and Zeus and Yoshi !!) for putting up with all of us “hoodlums” And a few action pictures of that awesome 20 that has been mentioned by John and Scott. I had a blast seeing everyone again! The raft up was great seeing all the mint Seacrafts. I think next time we'll need bigger anchors! Thank God for the Thunder Pig and the Piglet for getting us around! Capt Chuck put us on some huge Tuna schools and saved the day! [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] He also snored like a F'n T-Rex Sunday night [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] I miss him already [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Mancini kept us laughing and ate alot of Italian sausage. I think Scott M and Jim (EBEACH)deserve heroic metals for the roll in (A Long Way In A Small Boat Part 2)! It's amazing what those guys went through in that 20 Septre. Once again, many thanks to Jason & Nadine for their warm hospitality. The fishing was excellent, but the laughter and company was the best. Sorry I had to leave right at 5:00pm on Sunday....
On another note, Glad to hear that I provided so much comic relief but what I was really hoping for was to hear some of those infamous "Rodney impersonations" Thunder Pig is an absolute fishing machine. In solid 6 foot swells...(except for one I almost fell overboard)...I felt like I was on the QE2.. |
