http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...5/pics2158.jpg 40ft searay on autopilot in the intercoastal VS 1 very large concrete mooring thing. Large concrete mooring thing one 40ft seaqray zero. We made it float again with 30 gallons 2 part foam 4 10,000 lb airbags 2 4inch pumps and one big tarp. Towed it 40 miles to nearest lift. Uninsured totaled searay. Thats a very bad day.

Autopilot on the ICW?? Duh! He obviously had it coming.

Did the owner agree to pay or did you guys take salvage claim to the hull?

That's the funny thing about what we do, when the owner has insurance we're hero's, when they don't we're pirates, go figure....

Re: Bad Day

He paid alot i'm not sure but i think somewere in the neighborhood of 30 G's for the salvage and then decided it wasn't worth fixin to him and sold it to my freind for around 20 with the 20 worth of electronics that did not get wet we pickled the cats as soon as we got to the yard and got them runnin and cleaned out the sand and mud, my buddy is gonna put it back together next summer i'll get a few progress pics it'll be very interesting to see them rebuild the front of the hull, that you could park a small car in,, i've never had the oportunity to see such an extensive repair i was impressed with watching them patch holes in a grady i could pretty much walk thru, we'll see.

Re: Bad Day

we only salvage for insurance companies and paying customers or if called out by the authorities. Much more money in it that way. Here's a few from a hurricane rita salvage. 52000 lb pilot boat 1.5 miles on shore from where it was docked.
