Newbe
Hello, some may know me from Classic Mako, first time over here for a visit. Great website, very informative. The reason for my intrest is I bought a 3 boat lot of retired DNR boats yesterday and one of them was a very unmolested 1976 model 20 center console. It came with a 1981 Mariner 175 in good shape and a good trailer. The gelcoat still shines on this boat, the floor and all the hatches were always covered with snap in carpet. It has a very unique bench seat/cooler combo. Actually slides forward and back on aluminum tracks. The boat has normal wear and tear for a 30 year old hull. Up here in the north country we have a 3 month season. Transom is solid as it has had a aluminum plate on it from Day one(acording to servicing dealer) The live wells dont even smell fishy. Any Ideas what I should ask for this boat?? Thanks dave.

Welcome Aboard Dave.
A little introduction about michigandave. I got to meet him in Destin,Fl. this past May 2005 at the 1st Classic Mako Fundment. he's a pretty sharp guy. Does all his own work. He dibbles and dabbles in diffrent make's of boat's all the time. Mostly better built boat's. Whaler's, Mako's and now scored a SeaCraft. One of the guy's at the Fundment in May blew a foot on a 2 thirsty 5 Rude. Dave was the 1st to jump in and help pull the foot and we found a replacement to get the fellow going again before the weekend was gone. |
Re: Newbe
Thanks Bobby, I have had some interest in the Seacraft from both websites. I understand the Seacraft.com policy for the 25 dollar charge for advertisment. While this didnt start out as a "for sale" its kind of ending up that way. So I will certainly follow thru with that if a Seacraft member gives her a new home. Want2fish, I sent you a PM, dave.

michigan dave,
Please add me to your list of people that are interested in looking at and buying the SeaCraft this fall. Sent you an email and posted a similar message on the Mako site as well. |

Re: Newbe
Thanks, BTW when was the last time you saw a Potter built hull with some of the original seat cushions? (the seats have been done but not the backs.) Looks like the boat will be going to a good home, it will get the respect and care it deserves. thanks dave.

Re: Newbe
I read the following at ClassicMako.com
You posted " I posted the pics of the Seacraft over on there website because I thought it was a cool find. Not even a "hello and welcome" from that crowd. "Theres no place like home" . Course maybe not as many followers over there. dave. " Let me get this straight you come to this site, sell your boat to a member (without paying the $25.00 fee) and then complain to others on another site that we are un-welcoming? You are kidding right? what are you looking for here? If you purchased the boat to restore and if you are a finatic about Seacrafts I am sure you would find plenty of help and comradarie here but ill comments about this group on other site really PISSES ME OFF |

Re: Newbe
Hay no reason to get angry, It was a couple of days before anyone said hello and then it was Warthog. I did believe many folks from this site would be interested in seeing a stock, good looking 20sf from back in the Potter days. And yes, if not welcome, I will head on back home now. The prospective buyer is both a Mako and Seacraft member so only fair to send half to each website for support. I started off by asking if anyone could give me a value on what I should ask for the boat. I guess no one knows. I wonder if my handle was "good ol boy dave" or "east coast dave" if you all might have been kinder. no matter
have a nice day. dave |

Re: Newbe
Wow guys your being a little rough arent you???? I dont think Dave intended on selling his boat through the site here it just turned out that it did in fact help him. But I will tell ya what since Dave has been very hospitable and patient with me I will pay the $ 25.00 listing fee and buy a couple of the Potter built Sea Craft stickers for the 76 model year Saturday I will be the new owner and will be looking for advice and possibly a barter or two in the coming months and would rather not see people get sour.

It really is OK to be friendly. Some even consider it to be a attribute. dave,

Re: Newbe
I refunded Michigan Dave's payment in full. I do not take it lightly when one speaks ill of the members of this site.
Having met most of the members on this site I can not write enough good things but will drop a few tockens out there so new people may understand why I take hits about our community seriously. We have members like: Captain Brad- A regular coonass who started the original hurricane releif well before Katrina, heck even before Ivan, Charlie etc. He survived Andrew, and knew after the first hurricane LAST year(2004) people would need help and he single handedly aquired a big rig filled it to the hilt with supplies and handed them of to thise in need. Captain Chuck- actually opens is home up to us hooligans and hosts one of the best parties for people of CSC. Hermco- Our link to the shy originator of our habbit and one who is willing to give help even though it is his lively hood. Scott, Scott M., Big Shrimpin, Ed Mancini, Fellowship, Rich, Abes Rocket, No Bones, Miles Offshore, Blizzard, Other Tom, generaider, Ikan Besar, Joey, Reel Smoker,Snookered EBEACH, otto and all the countless others I have not mentioned- Always there to guide a newbie through the ropes or shoare their experiences first hand to help others. Oh yes and Finster for always having my back (like a pittbull in heat sometimes) but none the less always there at a moments notice This thread is closed. |
