Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
New idea. A coffee table book derived from our collection of boats. Currently this is a rough idea, in order for this to happen I need two things. High-resolution images of your boat along with a write up of your boat ie… how did you acquire the boat? any history you may have? what has
been done to your boat? Something along these lines. Editing will happen to images and text. If you would like to submit a few pictures and a write up that would start the process rolling. I say a few pictures just incase one is better than another in print. Overall, its up to the site to make this happen. I will make a book if I get enough submissions. We would need at the bare minimum 80 submissions. Up to you guys. I will leave this here for one month, after that we will see if this can happen. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Trayder,
Should we reply directly to you or here in this thread? It would be great if the book had a forward by Bill Potter or Carl Mosely or some old pix from the factory. Also a timeline of ownership and some of the origonal patents and spec sheets you have on the site. I am going to bet if we pull this off it would be the first of its kind done exclusivly by its owners. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Please reply here in regard to thoughts etc. but please send pictures and text to me via email.
Brian you have hit the nail on the head, and I really like your idea with a forward by the original owners of seacraft. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
I don't think the resolution on the pictures I have is adequate. What resolution is ok? I don't have any completed pictures anymore and I don't think a shot of the boat on the side of the house is going to make the book! Could this wait until spring?-PF

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Trayder, you are on to something with this idea. That is definitely a book that would live on my coffee table. Getting well taken, high res pics will be the challenge but I will try to do my part this spring. Unfortunetely I don't know any of the history of my boat. I think this thread might end up being bigger than the one about seacraft decals. Let's keep the ideas flowing!
|
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
This is not going to happen overnight. We are, as Jim stated, free flowing ideas. I want every one to keep the book idea in the back of their heads throughout this year and if you find the right opportunity for a great shot, get it. As for res. size the bigger the better. Do not worry about the shots you ahve already taken on the restore,we will figure something out

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
I'd be happy to jump in on this. I have some good hi-res pics of the boat. Maybe some of us Jersey guys can get together and have the great Chris Handel take a few high dollar blurry pics for the book..
Hey Finster.. have you seen Chris Handel..? |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Would it make sense to combine this with the seacraft ads that Finnster is scaning?

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
great idea

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
I think that it is a great idea as well.
Jason, what's driving the 80 number? Is it the number of pages, the number of book copies and/or something else? |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
thats a good question Peter- it is a request from the Graphics guru. It has to do with the page #'s but is not set.
|
Trayder - wicked good idea -
between all the technical data, spec sheets, ads, numbers produced per year, and all the pix of members boats, and all the restore jobs, I would think there would easily be enough material, both to make the book, and quite possibly, to make it a commercial interest item, beyond just the membership here.
also, maybe some shots of some of the SeaCraft gatherings Bill |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Blues player-
thanks! I have the info you sent me via PM. That will help immensly in re-doing the site |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Nice Idea, I'll take one - What about a section with young seacrafts destined to be classsic's in twenty years time ?
|
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Stu-
its all about the boats, if you provide the shots I will make the pages!! BTW I would like some of yours for the new site!! giddy up |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Jason
I have some low count pix shots I can email you later today. Will try to take some higher res shots this weekend. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Jason I'll shoot you some good pics and a little back ground this week, The only reason I found this boat was because another member saw it and gave me the tip where it was. :D
|
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Sorry I haven't been around for awhile, but I'm in. I'll try to get something to Jason in the next few weeks.

Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Bluewater (Al) 1988 23' CC. Power 2006 Etec 200hp.
Purchased new in May 1988 and still own. Fish in the South East coast of Florida. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
This is a great idea.
Are you still thinking of doing it? If so, I would like to send in a couple of pics. Also my boat has a rather interesting history and how I came to own it, I could include some info on that as well. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Another idea.
How about doing this with some profit motive in mind? The proceeds could be used to help host gatherings of owners or some other activities. Same holds true for the T-shirt sales that are going on. |
Re: Classic Seacraft Coffee Table Book
Don't know about a coffee table book but I am new to the site and was already wondering who supports and runs the thing and come to find out after reading on it's you. Would gladly contribute to the funds as well as purchase one of those tee-shirts you mentioned if you point me in the right direction.
|
Did this thing ever come to be? Would be great to have around the house. I'm sure there is a lot more content on the site that could be added since this post...
|
"Holy old thread revival Batman!" 10+ years. But I like the idea.
|
An old thread, but still a good idea.
I can't think of anything nicer than to sit down with a nice drink or even a coffee on a sunny winters day in New England, sitting by the fireplace while going thru the pages of the amazing work that so many members on this site accomplished. You southern boys will have to suffer the torture of looking out the window at palm trees with the air conditioners turned to the coldest setting. Either way a coffee table book is a great idea.I hope you pros who do such a good job on this site can find your way to making a great book on the incredibly beautiful Seacrafts rebuilt by the members here. My work isn't even close to the outstanding jobs of many others here, but i think I could come up with a few pics if needed. When I did the restoration on my Tsunami way back in 2006,(where does the time go?) my Son & Daughter surprised me with a book on fathers day with pictures and words that I took and spoke of during the restoration of my Seacraft. It was one of the nicest gifts that I ever received.Neither of them has a lot of knowledge of boats, and they had to pilfer the pictures without me knowing as it was to be a surprise,so the pictures are not always in the order of the time line as the work progressed but they worked hard putting it together for me. I had it on my office desk and people would always flip thru the pages and remark how nice it was and got to see a little bit of the work involved. There was no better fathers day gift that they could have given me. A professionally done coffee table book would be a great idea. Here's a few random pictures from the pages of the photo book they made for me.My camera skills aren't the best, its better in person but you get the drift. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psnqnfn5j0.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psr53orr7e.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...ps2uvgwdcm.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psso2psylk.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psn1issawn.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...pszswqgody.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psxf2wv4bd.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psffb7jcuf.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/...psn5ywprhv.jpg |
Very nice book!
|
really nice!Wouldn't it be great if it came to be, and all profits would go to CSC...anyone on here ever do publishing?
