The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Well (2 weeks ago) I finally was able to take the Seavette to Wildfire Marine to under go some much-needed repairs and modifications. I also had the opportunity to meet Capt Chuck, his SC, and his lovely family. Thinks for the great hospitably. I hope to be able to keep you guys up to date with the progress. Mike said that it was going to be about 3 weeks before he could get started on it, so after this coming weekend I'll give him a call and see where he is at on it. I'm going to try to go over there for the big flea market thing and meet some of you other CSC people.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Steve,
What is Mike doing to the Vette? From what I've seen of his work, you will be pleased. Of course you got to see Chuck's boat, so you already know what to expect. Keep us posted with progress pics if possible. |
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
He is fixing soft spots on the top cap, re coring, and refinishing the floor. Removing the teak on the outside, and he is going to make the engine hatch narrower in width. I'm having him repair several screw holes as well.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Hey Steve!
Sounds like you'll have a sweet machine when he's threw. What's the scoop with the soft spot on the cap? I have one too, around where the skylight is. I originally thought that was solid glass, but if it's soft there must be a core?? I need to get in there and rip out the cruddy indoor/outdoor carpet someone plasterd up. |
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Chris, It has soft spots on each side where the skylight used to be, and it's spongy behind the forward hatch. I think that we need to put some "Shag" carpet on the ceiling of our boats and hang up a disco ball.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Sounds like the Sea Vette is a pretty cool machine. If you guys wouldn't mind could you post some interior pictures of the boats? I have a Whitewater cuddy that needs an interior and I'm sure I could get some ideas from the Sea Vettes. Besides I'm sure guys are dying to see what they look like on the inside. Thanks in advance for your time.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Here's a little progress on the Seavette. Capt. Chuck was nice enough to go down to Wildfire Marine and take a few pics for me. Big thanks to Capt. Chuck. I talked to Mike a couple of days ago and he said that the floor was now back in the boat.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Here's some recent pics of the Seavette.
Here is where I had Mike make me a hatch to be able to access the anchor from the top deck. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteI.jpg Another nickel I could of had a Yellow boat. :D http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteH.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteG.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteF.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteE.jpg This is where I had him narrow the engine cover from a twin to a single. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteD.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteC.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteB.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3.../seavetteA.jpg I can't wait to get it back! |
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Steve, looking good! Is that the orininal color? When's the ETA?
|
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Lookin Good. I can't wait to see the finished product.
What was all that caulking around the rod holder and sides? I looks like there was wood paneling glued up in some of those shots. Is that correct? |

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Was the teak original or something someone added afterwards?
|
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Bryan, It was original. From what I can tell all Seavette's have this. It appears they used the teak to cover up a seam.
|
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
From what I think I know of the SeaVette's are that they have the same perimeter deck as a center console, with the cabin deck & sides bonded to it. The teak covers up the seam between them.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Doug, You are correct. I didn't realize it myself until Mike pointed it out to me.

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Steve,
I stopped by Mike's over the weekend to drop off some pics of my boat with his panels installed. Your boat looks great, the pics don't do the paint justice-that sucker is YELLOW! Good luck with the project. Donnie |
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
<font color="yellow">Donnie,
Mike did mention that someone from the site stopped by, I didn't know who it was through. I might be making a trip over there next weekend with my dad. My dad is going to buy another SeaBird out of Ft Lauderdale. I did here that it was more yellow than what it appears in the pics. :D |
Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
I bet that previous post was great but I can't read a word of it.

If you use your mouse to drag through it to highlight it comes up in black and white.

You will need welders goggles to look at this boat in bright sunlight!
Mike at wildfire has it in his shop and dosen't need to turn the lights on in there any more. Donnie |

Re: The Seavette is @ Wildfire Marine
Well guys I've been extremely busy and I haven't had the opportunity to keep you all up to date on what little progress that I have made. However this is the bolster pads that I had made with the custom "Seavette" embroidered in the stern pad. I have also finished with jel-coating the bilge and I also have the bilge pumps and floats installed. I went with 2 Rule 2000 pumps and two float switches.
