A day at the office....
Why people are compelled to go out in Feb., in freezing temps, honking every bit of 35-40kts is beyond me.
Spent 8 hrs. out in this today. Thought the guy was going to go into hypothermia by the time we got him in. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...l/DSCN2152.jpg |
Re: A day at the office....
Wow, thats some dedication. Can't imagine the reason for putting yourself in a position like that. Of course I see this kind of crap every third day. Today sunny 58 degrees and the tennis courts of Sun City (Heavens Gate) are packed. 62 year old male drops dead of a heart attack while walking back to serve. Previous history? Yep.
Fortunately a retired doctor begins CPR until the defibrillator arrives. Shocks him and he's breathing by the time the first ambulance arrives 4 minutes later. (One minute before the national average). Guy goes to the hospital telling the ER doc he had been doing CPR for half an hour. Whatever dude. Nice work Finster. Part II. |

Re: A day at the office....
Mike, I think I'm more dedicated to making a living more than anything else. It was accually nice to get out on the water, though I really could have done without the wind and cold.
Scott, that was more towards the inlet. We did turn and go up the river to Chestnut Neck. It was pretty cool we were behind a line of Vike's on their way back to the plant from the boats show. |
Re: A day at the office....
Was this guy out for a "sail" or was he moving the boat from A-to-B?
Idiot. |
Re: A day at the office....
The guy just bought the boat and was trying to get it home.

Re: A day at the office....
I don't know .... besides the risking others lives to save you a$$, i do not see a problem with it
Besides if it was me, the trolling lines would still be out! - Nick |

Re: A day at the office....
Now I'm getting all excited to get back in the game. Too bad our season doesn't start for a few more months.
This Scarab was a funny one. It wasn't called in, I just happen to come across these guys and asked'em if they needed help, they were like "yeah OK". They we out there from 11 o'clock the night before, and the tide is high in this pic, so it's pretty obvious they weren't going anywhere. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/Handel/1.jpg Gotta love the old "burnt to the waterline". http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/Handel/6.jpg |
Re: A day at the office....
Our season comes and goes with the weather down here oh and also with the beer sale's, but unfortunatly I've been working 6 days a week at my day job which leaves me little or no time to work with my salvage buddy, and that sucks cause I really enjoy doing the salvages. Our bay system is littered with shallow reefs and sand bars which makes it very hard on the newbies to find there way, they tend to keep us busy around all the major holiday's.

Re: A day at the office....
Scott, are you guys still busy with hurricane work? I know a lot of guys from this area went down, and I think their still there.
|
Re: A day at the office....
our area did not get any bad weather just a little wind and high tides and we work primarily for one insurance company and mainly in our immediate area. We got 15 salvages right after Rita all within 50 miles, and then about 10 or so in sabine pass and lake charles. The little company I work for is not geared for multiple salvages at a time, so when our ins. company started there work they went with us auctions and salvage direct.
