23 cc fixer upper

OK decided to sell if I can so here it is '78 23 cc needs transom, hatch cover repair 1 small softspot in floor, less than 1 ft radius, console lowerlip needs repair the cap has rotted core material up front above anchor locker and the cleat were ripped off in some rough water and the normal nics and scrapes here and there it comes with a pair of running old omc 150hp motors. I will take 5000.00 no less. There is also a trailer that needs work but is stucturely sound and should get the boat were ever it needs to go. Have more pics if needed. Also a rough t top comes with it that could be cleaned and painted and it would be nice. Would possibly trade for a bay boat.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

Wow not even a comment. Whats the problem to ugly to high priced or ya'll just don't like Texans? I would consider any offers just would like get enough to buy a running boat I can fish out of, been into fishing/boating about 8 years and up until I got this boat I was able to go anytime I wanted but between the fuel the size of the boat and the need for overhaul I never get to go. Don't really fish offshore the seacraft is just to much boat for me usually fish within 2-4 miles of the boat ramp and in 2 ft of water. Any way so if anyone has any constructive critisism that would aid in the sell of my boat, lets hear it. I forgot it has a 2 bank on board charger new batt switches new batteries washdown pump baitpump 2 bilge pumps bennett tabs Hyd steering and I'll throw in a 3rd 150hp running parts motor.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

The price is about right. Just be patient. :) Be sure and place an ad in Boat Trader or Ebay as well. And nothin' against Texan's.
See ya, Ken

PS: Tarpun and I drove from Florida to Louisiana to pick up
my Secptre. If some one really wants it, they will drive the distance.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

Sounds like your priced right. I'd been looking for a 1970's SeaCraft 23' hull until coming across a restored 74' 23 with twin I/O's. Most 20's in the NE area in need of restoration, but barely functional are selling for around 5K. I sold my 1973 20 with trailer 3 years ago for 5.5k. It was in very good shape.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

Scott, say it isn't so. I would refer potential lookers to this website so they can see what the're getting and what a restored Seacraft sells for. Unfortunately, Seacrafts aren't as well known on the Texas coast as they are in Florida. Diluted ospho will get the rust stains and hard water discoloration off the gelcoat pretty quick. Just don't get it on any aluminum. I do some legal work for the guy that builds JH Performance boats. His website is at jhperformanceboats.com (sorry I don't know how to do the computer stuff too well) I don't know if that is what your looking for but I think he sells them from bare hull to turnkey. Last time I was there he had a hull outside that he wasn't happy with. I don't know if it was cosmetic problems or what. Call me at 979-849-7801 about the jackshaft if you change your mind about the boat. I'm afraid with fuel being 3.00 a gallon they're going to kill the recreational boaters. It will probably be higher than that if you buy it at a marina. The last fuel gouging in the 70's had alot to do with my decision to go to law school instead of staying in the family business.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

ScotHawk,

Why you gotta be so far away? I've been lookin for a project 23 or 20 and have been disapointed with the quality versus the price.

I am considering your 23 and doing some math to see how many monies the project can be expected to cost. I will try to get the rough math done this weekend and contact you then for more details.

Since I live and play in paradise, one of my concerns is the trailer. Will it make it from there to here with no problems? would you feel safe it it was you towing from here to there? Bearing condition? axles? frame and bunks? Springs?

If you can answer those questions, I'd be appreciative.

Thanks,

BuzzCutt

I'll pack the bearings for ya the rubber is good and structurally it is sound and i'll find a good spare for it. I wouldn't have a problem towing it anywhere but thats me and its not a new trailer. My cell number is 281-850-9521 really need to sell fast found a replacment already If anyone is interested give me a call I can sweeten the deal alittle if it's gonna be a quick sale.

OK here ya go 4500.00 like it sits and 4000.00 without the motors that most people wouldn't use anyway. I'll honor these prices for two weeks then back to 5000.00. I really need to sell I need the cash for the replacement.

even if someone paid a pro hauler to pick this boat up and ship it to the east/west coast for 2-3K it would still be an insane way to pick up a nice restore candidate......

hmmmmmmmm, I can see it now Me heading down from the NE, Ken from the SE and Tim from the NW...only to have one of Scotts down the street neighbors buy it before we got there :D

its a great deal but I do not have the time or the will power to face Nadine when it made it up here.

Re: 23 cc fixer upper

I have a friend that is trying to sell his aluminum heavy duty trailer, rated for 10000 lbs and up to a 26 ft boat, it came with his 2005 searay that got totaled only seen water 10 times that would easily carry my seacraft around the world and back the price is 3500.00 but he would probably take 3000.00. This is not a sale ad for the trailer only, it is only for sale with my seacraft.

ScotHawk,

Still interested in the boat. One small road block, after sixteen years with same company doing outside sales, I have resigned my position. Found new job starting early July. Wife wants a boat as bad as I do now. Working on budget for this as a project and then logistics for picking it up.

I am sure if I offered fuel and cheap meals for a road trip, I would have an army of volunteers. DOn't give up hope. I'm an optimist afterall!

Would somebody buy this boat? This is a friekin steal! We have people looking to buy Scepters and convert them to center consoles to save on the CC premium. This guy is unloading this at 3-4K plus the 2K to ship it and you STILL do not see a 6K project 23 Center Console in anyones neighborhood ('cept for Finnie's Marina).

Jason - I think if you offered Nadine the choice of the truck or the 23 ;) , well ....

Re: 23 cc fixer upper reduced

Couldn't have said it better myself I thought after reading here how everyone wants a 23 cc that I would sell it on day one and after I got a couple of bites I left a deposit for the other boat I was going to buy with the money but STILL have her and fixing to lose my deposit. I have a buyer offering me 2000.00 but I payed more than that for the boat and refuse to lose $ on this sell, and another one that has mentioned sending a deposit but as of yet no buyers I just knew that when I lowered the price to 3000.00 that there would CSC members knockin my door down but I guess I was wrong maybe I'll make a planter out of it or better yet a artificial reef for fishing.

I will also take the boat and trailer to my shop at work where I can use the overhead crane to load it onto a truck for delivery if needed at no charge to buyer.

I just have to say something here. This is killing me also. It's impossible to loose money on this deal. I wish I would have found this deal when I was looking for a 23cc. I would have saved lots of money. Anyone who is looking for one of these legendary hulls and does not jump on it you will be sorry and will wish you did when it's gone..... which will be any day now.

I agree Strick, Someone who wants a SeaCraft needs to stop looking at catalogs and snatch this boat up!! Remember that "Someday" "Tommorrow" never comes :(

I paid $7400. for my '78. It was was a POS when I started the refurbishing....

I am scared  Have never done a rehab on a boat before, something I have wanted to do but am afraid of F*(ing it up, it has to come out right or I won't be happy,if I had someone to hold my hand a bit I would jump. I had posted a year ago that I would gladly give someone a hand in a project just for the experience and got no takers :D I want a 23 and don't mind the work and this boat is definately priced right!!
