Twin 2400hp MTU diesels,......50  plus knots expected.
You should see the motors, they are unbelievable. Three turbos for a wide range of RPM's without the lag. Should be interesting to watch this thing come together! |

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
Hey pipedreams,.....did u do the tower on the 63 footer that they launched about a month ago? If so, very nice work!
Those same two brothers want Jim to build a 42ft Express boat. That would be his first small express design, and I'm sure she'll fly to!!! |
Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
Lou.. Nope, but I know the guys that did do it though.. Funny thing I talked to Jim one time about building a 40-42 boat for a very good friend of mine and he wouldn't build anything under 48. And the guy was willing to pay the price. The times are a changing...

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
I don’t know that much about bigger boats but that doesn’t seem like it has much of a dead rise on it. I wonder how it will ride.

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
Well,.......I've had the pleasure of fishing and running several of Jim's boats in the past, and I can tell you from experience. The ride is pretty incredible, they track and run down sea, quartering sea, and head sea like no other! Thees pictures do the boat no justice when it comes down to the angle of entry and also the deadrise at the transome. Keep in mind the boat is 68 feet long and has a beam well over 16 feet. Can't have to much angle in the rear, she would draw 8 feet of water if she did! Hey pipe dreams, I have a 42 Ricky Scarborough for sale. Is your friend still looking for a boat in that size range? She's all new from top to bottom with 450HP Cummins motors. Just completed a three year restoration.

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
Sorry to bring up this old post but these pics are not of the hull, but the house that will go on the hull which can be seen in the background. Otherwise everything else is true. A friend of mine fished on one called the "Huntress" and he said it was awesome.

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
They were at one point, I bet the website for F&S changed the tags sometime between now and then. The original pictures showed the hull being rolled over.

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
f&S Hull #8 ("True Grit") has been in Lauderdale this week. They came back in the inlet Sunday with the buggy top and upper control station of the tower sunday broken off and tied to the hard top....must have been "42 knots in 6-8' seas".....it has been rough last few days. that one has C-32A Cats and should do in the low 40s on the pins (knots, not Mph)....truly incredible boats.

Re: Sea Craft 68 footer.....!!!!
If ya'll get a chance you should check out the F&S website. Awesome looking boats. They all cruise in the mid 30's topping out over 40 like other Tom states. Just incredible!
