Re: testing pics of project
Does anyone know where the name Fighting Lady Yellow came from?? Just curious. :D
|
Re: testing pics of project
My understanding (limited as it is) is that there was legendary sport fishing boat down in Mexico named the FL that was a pale yellow that was later duplicated by paint companies-somebody please correct me if I am making a fool of myself :o

Re: testing pics of project
More FLY and some progress, man taking that cap off was a workout, some goo in a couple hard to reach spots tested my patience

Re: testing pics of project
Want2Fish,
Boat looks great, you've made some serious progress. Popping that liner off the I/O is no small feat! I have the exact same hull, 20SF I/O and I'm doing some of the same mods/repairs. Let me know if you want to compare notes or take a look at progress, as I'm on the south shore of Massachusetts (Pembroke). Would like to take a look at your progress so far sometime this summer, if you have a couple of minutes. |
Re: testing pics of project
I can smell the raw fiberglass, and resin just by looking at the pictures. :D :D
Good luck, full speed ahead. See ya, Ken Oh yeah, Fighting Lady Yellow was an original Hatteras color. My color of choice long before it became popular. |

Re: testing pics of project
Just a note for you guys that might be doing this repair work or even just repowering. I upgraded my '72 CC from its original model I/O (I think MerCruiser M/R) to an 2.5l Alpha-One setup. It requires that you move the front engine mount board forward a couple inches. I figured this out the hard way after replacing the board in it's stock location.
Good luck it looks great! |
Re: testing pics of project
Ahh thanks for the heads up, this boat was repowered in 89 and I noticed that there were 2 sets of holes being about 1.5 inches apart ;)

Re: testing pics of project
I have the same model as you a 20 sf I/O that I am restoring. I have wondered what year my boat is, because I have no title or registration and the HIN is worn away. The inside of mine looks the same as yours with the exception of your under gunwale rod storage. Mine runs all the up to the bow compartment. Do you have any idea what year my boat is? Re: testing pics of project
I can't be sure but I think the 69 model yr is the only year they had stringers like you see in mine, the newer models have a different stringer system. You will have to find someone with a lot more knowledge than me because I don't know the difference's in years

Re: testing pics of project
Some progress,1st sheet all glassed up, gotta thank Bill @ Offshore Systems for having the patience to answer my crazy questions and explaining the process so that I can do the next one myself ;)

Re: testing pics of project
Looking good.
Those are some serious clamps that Bill has. I have not seen ones like that in a long time. |

Re: testing pics of project
Looks great . Progress is a wonderful thing, isn't it.

Re: testing pics of project
Sure is I can't wait until the boat is back together structurally and all primed up then the rest will be gravy ;)

Re: testing pics of project
Nothing too fancy just some knees and grinding

Re: testing pics of project
I got to the wood for the floor and some grinding of cracks even got to hit a few with some mat and resin. What do you think of the water channel around the I/O housing?? Should I keep it or make the ply fit that snug??

Re: testing pics of project
If you are going to keep the gap, router the edge of the plywood. Glass likes rounded edges.
See ya, Ken My name is NoBones, and I approve this message. |
Re: testing pics of project
Good eye that was actually next on my list ;)
