Jose has been sporting a new 34 Sea Vee with trip verados for a while now. It's a very good looking boat and hooked up with many options.

2nd sale that I am aware of since Jose got the SeaVee a little over 1 year ago?? Nice looking and could be a good price.

Those sprail rails aren't factory...he had them custom made in Miami if I recall correctly. It still wasn't dry enough for him, but they did help with spray.

Does any one have opinions on spray rails on a 23 seacraft? I was considering them for my rebuild but was conserned with it hindering the performance the v of the bow has now.

I bought a 1973 23 CC this spring that has full spray rails and the ride is great.I have not been on any other 23 so I cant tell you if the ride is any different.My brother in law has been in quite a few 23s and he said it rides perfect and it is very dry compared to others.I will try and post some pictures of them.Keith

I have the teak spray rails on my 20SF.
I have ridden in both 20 and 23 with and without.
The rails definitely deaden the entry. I plan
on making teak ones for my Secptre when that project starts
in the very near future. They do make a difference.

Looks like the rails are laid on right along the chine line.
Are you happy with them in that location?
Did you install them yourself and, if so, how are they fastened on?

No, I did not add them. The original owner sent the old girl back to SeaCraft (Potter) in 1980 for a re-do.
They were added on at the factory. I have seen and know of
a couple of 23SF's and 20SF's that have them on there.
From what I understand someone at the factory had the idea,
and the rest is history. As I said in a previous post, they
do make a difference on the re-entry. It flattens and softens every wave not to stuff the bow. The sharp entry on
our boats make the spray rails (As far as I'am concerned) a
necessity!! They were made with two pieces of teak, laminated and formed and permanently screwed.
We talked about making these rails about a year ago.
Use 3 inch PVC with caps. Long enough to hold the length
of product you will use. Add ammonia about 3 table spoons
per gallon of water. Let the teak soak for about 2-3 days
after you have cut and routered the pattern. When removed you can form to the chine and attach with SS screws.
The only draw back is maintence. Oil, oil, oil and more oil.
Did I mention sanding, cleaning and oil, oil and more frickin' oil. Other then that they are great.

It looks like you could use the same technique as they do when they put custom handrails on helix staircases.The materiel comes in all kinds of wood and comes in stripes that you can add and bend in layers than shape as they do on handrails.I put signature honey teak on my rails and it looks great and is durable.I would post pictures but I dont no how.Keith

I gotta tell you I have the 23 ft Sceptre and it is dryer then my brothers 31 Whitewater. Since we splashed her in 1979 I bet I have only been sprayed less then 20 times in a thousand trips or so. Looks maybe cool but not necessary in my opinion.

As I stated in my previous post. They "soften re-entry"
Limit on spray is a plus side effect. Markdpm if you were
to take a ride in a SeaCraft with them, it might change your mind. I have ridden in 23's and 20's with and with-out.
A good friend who has a 20 told me I better sleep with one eye open, 'cause he would steal them.
