Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Just replaced starboard starter and had trailer rebuilt by local welder that used heavy pipe on cross beams and fabricated new brackets to hold the bunks. Ran boat on Saturday 10/21/06. Ran out great, ready to fish. It just needs a new owner.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
What's the fuel burn @ cruise? and WOT? Just curious!! Nice Boat!!
|
Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Around 9 to 10 gph per engine cruising 3800 to 4200 rpm which gives you 35 to 38 mph on this boat. These are regular carburated Mercury's with the oil injection removed.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Sorry, forgot the wide open part. Turning 5600 to 5700 rpms runs the boat in the low to mid 50's mph range while burning a whopping 16 gph per engine. We don't do that a whole lot but it is fun to run it up for a short distance.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
That is great milage. I have a 23 footer w/twin 1998 150 carb Yamaha's and probably do no better than 1.75 miles per gallon (burn 18 gallons per hour at 32 mph).
Also, I max out in the mid 40's. Maybe my prop size ahs something to do with the max speed? Good luck with the boat sale. |
Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Those numbers are on flat water with 1/2 tank of gas and just me on the boat. Much different on the open ocean with two other people, a full tank of gas, a bunch of gear, curtains down and a baitwell full of water and menhadden. Loaded down like that this boat gets 1.25 to 1.5 mpg on a fishing trip depending on conditions.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
A very nice looking rig with plenty of power. If this were March or April you would have sold it by now.
If the engine compression is good, and the decks and transom are OK, I would definately mention it in your add. |
Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
HTucker, that is a beautiful looking 23. Good Luck selling her. Just have to ask, the photo taken from the bow aft, what are those three canopied offshore power boats all about? Don't remember Reggie Fountain having a plant in NC. Just curious. Thanks. Part II.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Yep, you got it. We share the canal with the Fountain Factory outside of Washington, NC. My wife's parents live directly across from the factory and that is where the SeaCraft stays. Interesting place. There is always a lot of activity going on over there with race boats, fishing boats, engine testing, etc.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
Price reduced to $12,500, "as is", cash only. I simply am not able to use this boat due to time and distance. The boat will be moved to a consignment lot in New Bern, NC by the first week of Feb. The first $12,500 in my pocket takes it. HT

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
What kind of shape are the transom and deck in?

The transom and floor seem to be in good shape. I have not noticed any weak spots in the floor. The transom is solid and has very little wiggle in it when pressure is applied to the lower units.

Re: 1974 SeaCraft 23' CC
The boat was sold last night to a fine gentleman from Atlanta who knew exactly what he wanted, recognized a screaming bargain and drove 8+ hours to get it....my kind of guy. Thanks to everyone that called and emailed over the last couple of months. It is always great to talk about boats and fishing. Tight lines, HT
