Hurricane Season 2006
Hey y'all in South Florida, are you ready for this year's mess? We've had a good break but it has sadly come to an end. I think I am ready but I hope they all go on to the North Atlantic like Debby. Even Ernesto seems to be turning northward so I hope it bypasses all of us.

Re: Hurricane Season 2006
Absolutely wonderful! On vacation 'til Friday from the FD. Don't need ANY overtime for this crap. Hope we are all spared. Unfortunately, you are correct. It's time to get ready. Part II.

Out here we @ work have to tie everything down when they're coming and untie when they hit land. when we evac. if its going to the fl/al line i have to run home tie down and evac. We live on the beach so they send us pacin when they come our way.

Re: Hurricane Season 2006
Hey Nestor, whats-up? I hope it goes north. :(
How far north do you mean? Here in Oak Hill (Down Hill as my so called friends call it) is NORTH!!! And Rusty, now we know where all those snagged lures come from. HeHeHeHe, :D off of the oil rig! My Generac is ready, bring it ON!!!! See ya guys, Ken |
Re: Hurricane Season 2006
I prefer my coleman 15 Kw generator to power the entire house. I just changed the oil so I'm ready. Holding on tight down here in FL. Later Ken

Re: Hurricane Season 2006
Darn thing looks like it's still coming our way but it may not be as bad as they thought. However, I'm not going to get caught like Wilma did last year, everyone said it would be a strong Tropical Storm/weak Cat 1 and when she hit it was a Cat 2! Forecasters say it will move north thru Florida into Georgia and out thru S. Carolina. Lets hope it's just rain and wind!

Re: Hurricane Season 2006
Hey guys i know the trailer augers work very well for tie downs as well. They are a major pain in the a.. to put in the ground. But if you screw it all the way into the ground you can put a short piece of 4" pvc over the top so its flush w/ the ground.
I wish i could get all the lures off the legs. |
Re: Hurricane Season 2006
Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz, Oh what a relief it is! :)
I think we dodged this one. ;) See ya, Ken |
Re: Hurricane Season 2006
as to securing the boat, mine is on the lift with those 3" yellow heavy-duty truckers rachet straps from lift, over boat, and back down to lift. Additional lines are tied from both bow and stern to cleats along the sea wall. Drain plug is pulled, boat as high as it will go in the lift....which still has the top of the t-top barely as high as the surrounding landscape. In order for any water to rise enough to touch the keel, it will need to blow a good bit harder than it did during Francis and Jeanne (133mph) and at that point the boat may be the least of my worries.
I guess what is left of Ernesto will be going through Stuart mid-morning tomorrow while I'll be at an elevation of nearly 10,000' fishing for rather small trout in Colorado :D |
Re: Hurricane Season 2006
