1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

I've been kicking around the idea for some time now but I would like to go up a step in size. I have a 1973 Seacraft Potter Built, completey redone with new motor, console, paint, and all the fix'ins. I will list pictures as soon as I can get'em downloaded and figure out how. If you'd like them by e-mail, please e-mail at andrew.johnson@gevity.com.
The boat has 14 switch toggle panel with all new wiring, every hose, wire and fuel line is new, 60 gal fuel cell, jack plate, awl grip paint, bennet trims tabs, dual bildge pumps, 30 gal bait well, new canvas cushions all around, new canvas console, and motor covers, 10 gallon fresh water washdown, all new lights (bow, stern, console), Garmin 188 color bottom/GPS machine, VHF radio, 200 watt Jenson marine/pioneer four speaker stero, the console is a Pathfinder with very nice layout, 2006 Suzuki 175 four stroke big block with 100 hrs and 6 yr warranty, 2006 peterson dual torsion axle aluminum trailer. This thing is nice. I've tracked the fuel consumption on my last three tanks and getting 4.57 miles per gallon. Boat cruises fantastic at 3500 RPMs at 30mph and tops out at just over 50mph. I have a ton of money invested in it and would like to get $20,000 out of it. Ready to find me the perfect 23' Potter to hang twins on. Feel free to call 941-812-7770 or e-mail if interested. Thank ya

Great looking boat, wish I had $20,000 laying around I'd be on my way up.

Thank ya
:DI'm negotiable to a point. I've got almost $26,000 into it with the new motor and new trailer, so I'm trying to get as close to $20,000 as I can.

Have you had any luck with selling this boat?

I've had several interested parties and one gentleman from SC looking right now. We'll see what happens.

I ran next to that boat for a little bit. It walked away from mine. That 175 zuki seems to be the perfect match. It has all the bell and whistles on it. Good luck with the sale.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

I've actually decided to keep her. With the cost involved in refurbing a boat, not sure I'm ready for a 23' Potter project (even though I'd love to have one with twins). My good friends at Thin Dime Custom Fiberglass Fab are going to help me make this one feel bigger. Were going to move all my pumps underneath console, cut out the boxes in the back, relocate and route the deck drains, close in the transom, add a 10' jack and have the floor/deck run all the way to the stern. It'll make all the difference in the world as far as space in the back. I'm excited! It won't be for another 6 months or so (need to save up the funds) but I'll be sure to post pics.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

Figured I'd move her back out there incase some one is seriously interested. Like I mentioned previously, I have well over $20 in this boat but willing to take a hit. I have some life projects (bigger house, possibly a ring, etc) that ain't free so the 23' potter or even doctoring up this 20' aren't really in the picture :( If anyone is interested in this rig, I'd be willing to play ball. I'd appreciate it if I don't get any offers from "left field" however ;)

Peterson Trailers in Gibsonton, FL. I'll get the number off my trailer tonight and get it to ya tomorrow. Real good guy, well made trailer and very competitive price. Myself and about 4 buddies have had him build trailers for us.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

Could you give me the info on the prop ? Manf, size and pitch. Do you have a manual jack plate or hydraulic? I just purchased the same motor . Does it sits stern heavy with the 4 stroke/ Thanks

eggsuckindog 03-12-2007 12:06 AM

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

Mine sits stern heavy with a 200 merc at 406, the scuppers will fountain if you walk back there, that should give give a start point, I just keep them plugged most of the time.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

Dadgummit! I forgot to look at the prop for ya this weekend. Manufacture, I'll get for ya and I'll double check those specs but I'm almost positive it's a 16.5 diameter, 22 pitch. Let me verify that for ya though. Yes, it's a Bob's Hydraulic Jackplate. With the jack and the 175 it does sit little heavy in the stern but not too bad.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

It is a Suzuki prop 3 X 16 X 21.5

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

I'd still entertain an offer if anyone is interested in a real nice Seacraft with new power and all the bells and whistles. I've kind'of come to the conclusion that trying to not take a whipping on the sale is unavoidable if I'm actually gonna sell it. I wouldn't be able to give it away but I'd be willing to work with someone if they came with $15,000. Heck, I paid that much for motor, jack plate and trailer a little over a year ago.
I just wanna go up in size (in both house and Seacraft) :D and liquidating this one would help.

I had an inquiry into seperating boat, motor, trailer. Under the right circumstances, I could do that. Holler if your interested in boat/trailer.

Re: 1973 20 CC with Suzuki 175 4-stroke

Sorry bout that fellas. I've been busting ars trying to get the house ready to list, so haven't been on in a few days. Delivery of the boat is schedule for tomorrow. A nice fella from Auburn, AL is meeting me in Lake City around 4:00. I'll miss that boat but I got bigger fish to fry (family and bigger house) but will most definately be looking for a 23' hopefully next year. So yall keep your eyes and ears open for a hull. Ideally I'd like to find an outboard set'up which has already been worked on, or is ready to be cut'up, refurbed, a full transom, bracket and new power (Suzuki 300 )
