Mast help / ideas

I'm doing some work for owner of the boat in the pictures and we need photo's or ideas for a mast to mount lights etc.

Maybe you have boats in your area with something we could copy? I'm thinking something mounted on the cabin top...

Looks solid, gunnels a bit close to the water but otherwise designed for serious crabbing or fishing. What is her draft?

Keep in mind you should be able to show `Green over White' for "Fishing at Night".
Check out this site for USCG Lights and Signals Rules <http://tinyurl.com/yfdp55> HBH

As to mast:
. First choice marine salvage yard
. second, schedule 80 PVC

When mounting it is wise to use a backing plate with through bolting so fasteners are not relying on purchase in the FRP. Remember that a mast can be a mean lever at sea trying to pull itself loose. You might want to consider using the mast as an antenna mount but keep in mind proper separation of navigating antennae from RF, at least 3' of separation, more is better. Also twist the positive and negative wires to minimize inductive field disturbance to compass, etc.

Best Regards, HBH Oh yes, if you plan on taking her offshore at all you'd do well to buy a life raft / survival canister.

Hey Matt-

There is a boat in my marina that had a really nice mast made this past summer. It is very similar to the old mahogany chris craft masts but it is made out of oval and round aluminum. Very sharp. I will see if I can take a picture tomorrow. This guy wound up mounting his radome on it...but you could mount any number of lights on the vertical part.

Seriously, is there an explanation for the Hawse-sit post?

It is the first sign of rudeness on this excellent site and totally out of place.

mr phnx

u a funny guy. my cousins all say i is the engeneer of da family.i make a good test for u good ole northryn boy.u git 10 secs to give anser, hear goes

1. Which of the following cars will rust out the quickest when placed on blocks in your front yard?

a) '66 Ford Fairlane
b) '69 Chevrolet Chevelle
c) '64 Pontiac GTO

Duh -- the Fairlane. The GTO is in your neighbor's yard to replace the tranny that you blew out last weekend showing off for the chicks at the family reunion; the chevelle has way too many coats of paint from the derby to ever rust! The fairlane is the one you typically take mudding, since it has the highest stump clearance on the differential

2. If your uncle builds a still that operates at a capacity of 20 gallons of shine per hour, how many car radiators are necessary to condense the product?

Duh...... Trick question. Uncle cousin Leroy didn't build the still, meemaw did; however, when he had to make the repairs to it after the house blew away, he used a radiator from the old Lincoln welder

Ok phnx u say i hawse-sit, shoot do not give up now i give u one last try to save yo ass

3. A pulpwood cutter has chain saw that operates at 2700 rpm. The density of the pine trees in a plot to be harvested is 470 per acre. The lot is 2.3 acres in size. The average tree diameter is 14 inches. How many Budweiser Tall-Boys will it take to cut the trees?

Duh.....you flunked out Mechanical man..... zero; Bud is way too expensive for a day to day thirst quencher. But after 6 or 7 Red Dogs, my girlfriend ought to be getting a good start on it

Hey Pinxy,

You talkin' to me son?-) PHN can't be pronounced PIN even in southern talk. FIN is the only logical; but then logical does not seem to concern you. The y, is, of course, an attempt at diminutive typical of someone who feels inferior, even more prevalent in those who ARE inferior.

Quote:

Know the Difference Between a SACE(Retired or Work'n) & a Captain?

SACE = South African Council for Educators?
The difference I suppose is one buys or otherwise kisses government ass to get a piece of paper regardless their skill: you?
The other just DOES things; builds buildings, flies and sails oceans (solo), saves companies asses when they rely on the former (you?)

Quote:

Consulting ? Us Souther Boy'z go fer the real License!

Reading the terrible truth about Lincoln "The Real Lincoln" by Thomas J. DiLorenzo, the abuses of the south and our constitution come into focus. Between his illegal war and occupation of the South and the killing of a quarter million of the best independent thinkers from the South it is not surprising to find it still submissive to authority. Are you one the resultants, or were your ancestors carpetbaggers?

Quote:

By the way I'm a Professional Consulter! Follow Me & bring the Whiskey!

Does whiskey help your performance; or is it just that being drunk makes little recognizable difference in your ability. "He holds his liquor so well you can never tell when he's sober"!-)

Look, just jerking your chain as you seemed fit to come at me. Is this accomplishing anything?

Hey Wavelength; with all this banter have you gotten anywhere with a mast idea?
Was wondering if a section of sailboat spar might work.
There are also members of this group that do rails and towers for a living that might help.

Silly Red-Neck: everyone knows - `cept you - the Subaru has much better ground clearance.

Must be in the genes: two hundred Kenworths couldn't cover the poor sods bail since that capacity still is impossible to hide.

Here, finally, is a glimmer of intelligence. To properly compute we need the tooth spacing. Are they wide as yours?
