Pictures of New Boat

Well, I sea trialed my new boat. Also, the surveyor kicked the tires pretty good. She passed with flying colors.

She is a 1972 23' SeaCraft w/ a flotation bracket and twin Yamaha 2000 200 HP OX66's. New deck was installed and raised two inches.

Here are some lousy pictures that I just snapped. As you can see she is dirty right now.

Don't mean to get off the thread, but I'm not seeing the images. Same thing has happened each time PeterB has posted pictures. I also never see the images for the tee shirts. I'm using Mozilla Firefox; anyone think that may be the problem, or what the problem may be?

I'm using Mozilla as well and I can see them fine. Nice ride Peter. Is that a Seamark bracket?

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Snookerd,

What does your 23' top out with the twin 225's?

I got up to the low 50's yesterday w/the twin 200's. The surveyor thinks that if i move the engines up a notch on the bracket and/or I go from a 21 to a 19 pitch prop I should be able to do close to 60.

Your bad boy must must go up into the 60's.

Make sure your security is not set too high and that you accept cookies. I have my security set at Medium and it seems to work well.

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Peter-That's the million dollar question on the top end speed. She has been high and dry for whole time I have had her. I am on the 2-3 year plan for a partial rebuild. Even though it is over-powered, I have to admit, I am looking forward to seeing the top end . The motors are on a hydraulic jack plate for tweaking. Should do a bit over 60.

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Yep Congrat and what everyone else has said Peter- i think based on your previous boat and now this sweet ride I have come to the conclusion that you must have a need for speed

peterb 03-09-2007 08:53 PM

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Thanks everyone

Regarding Craig's comment about the need for speed, here is my take.

Twin outboards on a 23' is kind of like central AC. If you have lived without it it is no big deal. However, once you get the taste in your mouth it is a different story.

Nice boat Peter, great find!

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Congratulations, Peter, great looking boat and appears the previous owner did all the right things. Questions - who did the glass work and bracket, and are your scuppers well above the water line at rest with that set-up?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Nestor,

Nice motto! Hope it changes soon.

Chris,

Young Brothers in southern NJ did the deck work. They raised portions of the stringers so that the new deck is raised. The scuppers are thrutransom now. It is above the waterline.

I don't know who installed the bracket. The previous owner bought the boat in 2000 and the transom was already closed with the bracket on it.

Peter

Capt Chuck 03-10-2007 11:44 AM

Re: Pictures of New Boat

I wonder why they raised the deck. Never seen/heard of that being done on a 23'. The wet feet syndrome was inherit with the 20's. Maybe because of the weight of the big twins :D

peterb 03-10-2007 11:54 AM

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Chuck,

Now I have thru tansom scuppers that are above the water line. Would that have been possible if the deck weren't raised?

Peter

Capt Chuck 03-10-2007 12:54 PM

Re: Pictures of New Boat

Peter,

On my '78 the floor scuppers were thru the transom. The only time I would get any water back up thru them were if I had two fatazz fishermen standing in the aft corner and I was anchored up. Here is a couple of old shots showing the two drains thru the transom adjacent to the trim tabs. The 2nd pic shows the port side PVC drian coming out of the floor cup and 90* out the transom. I added the "T" piece which was a tie-in for the old gutter system around the battery/floor deck hatch in front of the splashwell.

I'm not trying to convey anything here right or wrong other than this was the system setup that was on my 23'without a raised floor.
