I am looking for a Boat!
I am looking for a 18-20 foot boat. I live in Key West, Florida, I'm 17 and i reallllllly need to get a boat. Its the one thing i truely want (i don't want a car!) I would like it to be relatively close to Key West because my parents do not want to travel far to look at it. And i can spend 5500 (and can be talked about going a higher or i guess lower) Please help me out guys I love the water and i love boats and really want one!!!

Fishanchicks, welcome aboard. There's many boat broker website you might want to checkout i.e. boatrader ect. and if it's a Seacraft your looking for sift threw the for sale section on this site, most of them come there here.
BTW, being 17 and into chicks you might want to consider a 20' cuddy like the Seacraft Seafari. :D |

keep checking here, craigs list miami, and the so florida classifieds online regularly, and of course the trader. but most important be patient and wait for a seacraft.

If it were me and I was looking for an 18-20' boat to use in the Keys, I'd get a flats boat. There's a lot of skinny water down there and a SeaCraft is not the ideal boat for that area unless you want to do nothing but fish off the reef or deeper.
I really like my SeaCraft 20' for what I use it for but I don't have hundreds of square miles of flats out my back door. |

I know exactly what i want, and what i want it for. I worked down at the fishing boats for 4 years and have been on the water my whole life, so i have a lot of experience on the water. This boat will be for offshore and reefs. Its going to be a fishing machine. I LOVE seacraft and the boats they make. I just need to find a boat. Do you think you can post up the web adresses to the places you suggested. I look at boattrader regularly. Thanks guys. Oh and any offers are accepted!

You deffinately have to be patient. I bought my 20' about 1 1/2 yrs ago when i was a freshman in college. I looked for about 2 years before i found the right boat at the right price. Goodluck -andrew |

check all listing 2 times a day.There was a pretty good looking 1973 23 CC console in the trader last week in fort lauderdale that sold in a day.you got to be quick with cash in hand on the good deals. good luck

We got all these young turks on board now. I just want to second all the advice I have been reading. 1. Search hard & be persistant. Like everyone said, take your time. I am in my mid 20's and probably just as impatient as you. Recently bought a 23' Seacraft. It took me about 8 months to find what I was looking for, but it paid off. You better believe I bought a boat for the mean time, while I was looking. You should see an increase in sales in the next two or three weeks!

NO, technically they can't (although many do from time to time). If you read the "for sale" section posting rules here you will see that the administrator has kindly asked that out of respect for those that pay the fee to list boats here, links to other sites selling boats not be posted.
It's not rocket science finding them on your own. Or, hop in the car and drive up the road: I saw three different used SeaCrafts for sale between Key West and Marathon day before yesterday and I never left US1. |

a familiar story, i looked and looked for 2 years until i found my first 20'. i was 18. i found a 1975 20 w/ a worn out 150 merc. i'd been saving - got the boat and ran it hard all summer. come august off to college but came home once a month to use the boat. trailered it to key west 2 years in a row for spring break-- boy was i popular :cool:anyway graduated in 4 years got a job and repowered w/a 200 mariner. got the bug a few years later and bought another sea craft, sold it, bought another-- well now 35 with 3 kids. nice to see another teen with his priorities in line.

Being in FL you will not have that problem. I highly recommend being ready with cash in hand when you go to look at the boat or you will not have a chance. The guy I bought mine from said there were 25 other people in line to buy the boat waiting for pictures. I drove 500 miles sight unseen. Good luck! |

I would jjust love to be the owner of a 18 or 20 foot SeaCraft! I have always had my eyes open for boats for about 3 years now, don't think that I just started looking. I was told this website from a friend and am really happy with it so far there are some AWESOME deals on here. I just need to kind the right one!!! I don't want to commit to any one boat because i would really like to see a boat and ride on it before i purchase it!

get the Seafari . . . it's a much more female friendly boat. It can sleep two (maybe 3 if you're really lucky) and you can cook eggs and bacon onboard

I don't want a boat with a cuddy. This is going to be a fishing and diving boat. Girls are an added bonus. Could care less about them right now. I need a boat first! I want a CC outboard. Thats waht i got my mind fixated on. Thanks for the input thought. I think i can pull my own chicks. I don't need advice! Down here in the keys you want to be in the sun not in a hot ass cuddy cabin!

Keep your head on a swivel. Everywhere you go always be looking and thinking SeaCraft. Look over fences in peoples backyards storage yards etc... Go to old marinas and ask everyone you see if they have seen any SeaCraft's around. Check every newspaper you can get your hands on. Search Google like theres no tomorrow. And when your eyes get heavy and tired from looking slap yourself upside your head pull your self together and keep going. Eventually you will be riding in that boat you dreamed of. At least you know what a good boat is. when I was 18 I had no idea.

try www.crazedlist.org It allows you to search all listings on craigslist in all cities.
you have to use firefox and follow the directions below. From www.crazedlist.org site: if you're using the excellent web developer firefox extension then simply go to the disable menu and "Disable Referrers". if you don't have that extension you can go to the location bar in firefox and type "about:config" and hit return. there will be a window with a bunch of stuff, in the filter field type "sendrefer" this will reduce the big list to network.http.sendRefererHeader. click on that row, and change the 2 to 1 or 0 (1 will send the referrer to a site when you click on a link only, 0 will not send any referrer information -- thanks to brian for the about:config tip!). If you're using Opera you can alter this setting as well. in the location bar in type "opera:config", then type "referrer" in the search box, uncheck the enable referrer setting, and search like a madman! If you're using IE, delete it and use anything else ;) |

This might be wasted breathe coming from an old man . . . who was a "fishandchicks" guy about 15years ago . . . commercial fished for a summer job during college and owns both a 20MA and seafari . . .
Don't misunderstand me . . . I'm not trying to tell you how your should be saving that money . . . rather I'm trying to get you to consider the advantages of the cuddy, so you can maximize your "fishandchicks" lifestyle into your adult life. The SeaFari is a tough fishing machine with a place to camp out/get out of a storm. The best part is that you can anchor up, sleep in total comfort, walk out the cabin and cast your rod into the water. Your fishing trips can now last a weekend, not just 6 - 12 hours and when you get a little older . . . and your chicks turn into a serious girlfriend/wife you don't have to hand them a 5gallon bucket and turn around when they have to pee. |

The Seafari has a good sized cabin, but i doubt that "gal" will fit! :eek: If she does squeeze in(absolutely make sure she goes in 1st), she is not comming out anytime soon.

Fishnchicks - keep saving those pennies . . . it's a waiting game . . . something will turn up and don't be affraid to make an offer on one of those boats even though they are listed for more $$$. The seller may come down quite a bit.

I have a 1972 Sea Craft with a Merc 200 on a bracket with t-top spray rails etc. it's in Miami. are you going to the bartenders weekend in Islamorada. It's fish and chicks at it;s finest. |
