Round 2 Ding Ding
While I'm still recovering, Susan the never daunted Martha Srewart of Yachting and Camping read my post about Ft Desoto. So she has requested me to judge interest, she has found 3 campsites ajoining along the deep water sea wall for Nov 11/12. They allow 2 tents and 6 people per site but I bet we could hide Jonas, put a tail and some eye black him and they'd think he was just another coon :D She can reserve them if we have some interest as its 6 months in adavnce on reservations now. There are also some motels with docks not tooo far away but that should be the easy part. I know this is just what you wanted to think about but we would have to get then as they will be gone very quickly.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
I might be interested, Where is it located?
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
We would be interested in Ft. Desoto in Nov. Jonas could be numerous animals to blend in........ :D That is a short trip for us. I might be able to get there by Friday this time I could check out things by boat and be able to help with people traveling.

Let me know they fill up fast and we will reserve them, 3 sites would be fine for 18 people 19 with Jonas doing the his best racoon imatation. I do want to get to the east coast though. We would need to keep it somewhere around WPB or Stuart or it would still be too far for the Mijami guys. Capt Chuck anyplace you can think of, doesn't need to be camping but still reasonable. |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Steve-Here is a link to the park Ft. Desoto Park . Dixon, I am checking the calendar. Should work out great. I will let you know ASAP. We should be able to get Brian, Resurrection, and the TowBoat from around here. Eggmont Key is right there too for those explorer types. For the East Coast plan in the next year----The Sebastian Area Park that Skiblet mentioned would be a great spot for camping and Peanut Island in WPB would also pull the Mijami group as you mentioned.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
So do you want me to reserve 2 spots or 3 ??????
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
ESD-Go with 3 for now, so we can get more folks with the xtra camp site, and the nearby hotels, ect.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Ft. Desoto in November- I'm going to try to make it to this one. My dad lives up in Gulfport, right up the road. I was down 2 years ago and spent an afternoon fishing off the beach and wading some grass flats off the backside at Desoto; it's beautiful.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Thanks, I'll most likely stay in a motel, the wife isn't much on camping. :(
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
I'll be there. The boat should be running by then and hopefully the motors will be broken in as well. See you there.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Todd- Looking forward to seeing that 27!

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
OK heres the plan - I have #190 reservered for 11/9-10-11, Susan wants to go Fri- the other sites I was looking at are 188 and 186 and was going to reserve them for Sat and Sun - the reason for sunday-- checkout is 11AM and kinda kills the day having to clear out. Reservations can be made for 11/9 today and 11/10-11 after midnight tonight. This was just my plan as these are all paid up front @$25 a day (adds up) and I wasn't sure who was coming and whether there would be people wanting to do Fri. If you want to add Friday on either 188 or 186 let me know and go reserve it NOW. As 3 sites on the water gets us plenty of seawall space so if we need more spots later interiors will work.
Here is the exact link for reserving by site - from where you are just click the site you want- I have 190 done and was going to nab 188 and 186 tonight- please let me know if you reserve one so I don't start cussing :D |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Dog,
I am barely done putting away my camping stuff from 2 weeks ago and you are planning another outing? You are a sick sone om a bich! Yeah, count me in. I can come by boat so that makes it much easier. November will be cool and mostly bugless. Yanking the boat out at Anclote on a moon low tide was quite a task. I had 2 illegals on my hood and 4 on my running boards just to give traction to the little volvo. No kidding! |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Ya it can be tough even at that ramp, I feel the same way but Susan started it and we have do the fricken reservations 6 months in advance, sorry.
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Agghhhhh Jeeess,
I'm with Brian, the Bones is still outside awaiting the complete cleaning before going into the barn, tent still in duffle bag---- :( Does this mean I have to do the raffle again??? OK, count Patti & I in. This will be an easy trip. NO FRILLS!!!!!!!!! See ya, Ken Oh yeah, Briguy, did the hood ornaments have green cards :D |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
i want to go camping so bad but its a little far for me to trailer the sc. :( no one likes camping on the other side of the state? or if some one from south fl would be trailering also id consider it more. i know it will be a great time over there..

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Blue197320-
You should get over here and enjoy yourself! I will help you with any details for getting here. In response to the East Coast Gatherings, you guys are on a hiatus for a while. The tide will turn back to there........You have sooo many quality spots that all of us would go to.With all the years we have been on this site, all the gatherings only happened when one person or a few made the sacrafices to pull it together. There have been a bunch of good intentions that didn't happen. We are building a solid base for these gatherings. And members are doing the work to get and keep these events going. When folks believe people will show, then it gets a good draw! |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Brian-
That Volvo is one beast! I busted a trailer guide post getting out of that ramp! I was the only "legal" on the bumper :D |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Have no fear, Capt Chuck and I are already working on an east coast gathering for early spring 2008 somewhere around Stuart. Daytona just does not have any Hotels on the water close to the good water, Likewise with Sebastian Inlet.
We have to consider all that are coming. Some want to camp and some want motels. Stuart will be the likely choice. Chuck is going to do some re-con soon. Stay tuned for further details. Ken |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Blue just drive up, its not like we will have a shortage of SeaCrafts
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
We now have site 185 reserved 11/9-11/10.The east coast sounds great,I have looked online for places to stay over there with good water access, with no luck. Captain Chuck doing the recon I know it will be great.
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
No Bones & Capt. Chuck-
Just tell me when and where over there and I will be there! |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
I have 186 and 188 locked up for Sat and Sun, checkin and out is 11AM, the reason I did Sun is that way you don't have to break camp until Sun evening and get all day. Susan and I will be in 190 on Fri, if someone wants to come in Fri they both are avilible, they may not have anyone in them in any case so checkin may not a problem early sat. Doodlebug has 185 so thats 4 along the sewall which is plenty of room, so we now can use interior sites as well- Bathroom and Hot showers are stumbling distance, elec, water, grill and picnic table at each site. Plenty of room along the water for a central group area for a fire and such.
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
ESD- I will be squeezing in there Fri on 190 and Sat. and Sun. on 186 & 188, correct? It's sounding sweet!
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Snookerd has claimed 188 and will add Friday. There will be plenty of spots later, what we needed was the seawall spots for the boats, which we now have. So anybody can get an interior spot 50' away and still have boat parking, that was the key. For singles or doubles they allow 2 tents per site, so even spliting one is not out of the question. Hopefully this time we can get some fishing in.

Re: Round 2 Ding Ding

Small Grill ????????
what kind-a $#!^ is this, We would expect nothing less then the largest Webber has to offer.:D Three course with dessert, Martha is still a little worn out from the largest event ever!!!!!!!! OK, I quess we will make do.... See ya, Ken :) |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Look I have to carry the crap to the beach, I had Mikes little Webber and that little crapper is heavy, I had to rest at the edge of the water :D Its like 15X15 and weighs less than a LB and she can cook up a storm on that little booger.
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
ESD-I've got my anniversary weekend this weekend, so I am out on the shell island plan. Keep me in the loop for next time
|
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
Ditto for me on the no show, Patti turns 35 (yeah right)
on the May 31, And being Memorial weekend it will be a boating nightmare. But we are looking forward to Ft. Desoto. And I was told by the boss that we will tent camp. The motorhome will stay home. :( Thats OK, we enjoyed the roughing it at Anclote. I quess thats what happens when we get older we have to re live our youth.... :D Have fun, we will be thinging of you guys with the little Webber! See ya, Ken |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
This was really just for guys taht were close like Danny and Brian that if they weren't doing anything just ride over.
Ken in Nov we are in the motor home area, those sites are bigger and they clear the trees higher, unless its bigger than the Rolling Stones tour bus should be OK |
Re: Round 2 Ding Ding
It could be close.
