Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

deck is solid, transom is solid. One spot on the deck (in front of the console) that has some cracks in the glass. I never fixed it since 01 and it has not deteriorated. The original deck attached bow running light was removed for the hull type "eye" running lights. The old place on the deck where the running light was not glassed over, and has recently worn thru to show the circle cut from the factory(1.5 inch opening). Compression was done last Summer. All cylinders were good. The lower unit on the motor is missing about an inch of metal around where the prop housing starts(electrolisis from a welded lower unit) Trim tilt has always had a leak. Motor starts right up

would 1989 be trackers 3rd year? was there any year of any known problems? I am still interest as others for this does look like a great deal for a solid boat.Keith

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Chuck-It has got to gooooo. I want it gone. My 23 is screaming to get worked on. My kids literally started washing down the 23 right when we got in from Jupiter on Sun.. We are turning the page on the 18SF. I got sucked into the turn key situation on the 18 and put off the 23. Time to get busy on the wet sanding & compounding the 23 hull spray job.

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Leverette5-Tracker took over in mid 88. You can search this topic, but I've been in on all of them on CSC. The hulls, decks, ect. have no weakness. The hardware was knocked for quality. I have never heard a transom or deck issue for Tracker SeaCrafts. After being used for 18 years, I would say it was built well. The yamaha 130 has also been a topic of discussion by many CSC folks to say that the match of weight and power was ideal for the 18SF.

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Leverette5-
Cannon's Grady/Yamaha in Sarasota says it is the same bolt pattern for the 150 2 stroke.

I think my father-in-law would buy this boat if it were closer to Virginia. He has a new motor waiting to mount on it as well.

I just found a 115 Yamaha with low hours on Craigslist in NY for $2500 if someone is looking. I spoke with the guy. Strick got his 130 for around 2K for his 20SF

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Danny, I am so surprised that someone has not jumped all over this boat! This is a GREAT boat with a lot of TLC given over the years. Only someone from CSC DESERVES to have this boat!

If only I had more space to put another boat ..... :D

If I lived remotely close(oxymoron, I know), that would be in my driveway by now. :)

Same thing here. I would absolutely love that boat in Barnegat bay. It would be perfect.

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Carla, Peter, and Oldfielder-Thanks for the positive feedback! As of last night, a deal is pending. It is an out of state buyer. Another story of the value we place on these boats that gets confirmed by that type of effort to find the right SeaCraft and purchase it from a long distance away. Thank you EVERYONE for your comments, I appreciate it. This means that I am preparing to join the ranks of the "worker" CSC members on the ruff 23SF. Watch out! Gotta get the mojo going :D

Ken-You the man! Thank you. We can arrange that dollar exchange :D. I like that shot you posted. Heck of a pocket battle wagon-that 18 is. I am working on the 23 today. I am now in full ahead mode on the 23

Danny,

Are you keeping the twin 225 Merc setup for the 23'?

Peter

Snookerd 06-24-2007 01:43 AM

Re: 1989 18SF Ready For New Power

Peter-Currently yes. I am pretty confident that, with the excess power managed properly, those motors will be reving pretty low and be as efficient as possible (can't use the word efficient and merc 225 carbed 2 stroke in the same sentence). The weight is less of a concern knowing that 445lbsX2 motors is not really out of line. I see the new SC25's with 225 optis in their ads all the time. I will be playing with those jack plate heights to see the best spot for running. I have been watching your adjustment process with motor height variation. The motors may get new 200hp decals :D
