Re: Long Point info

Thanks Jon for taking the lead..
I just got off the phone with Long Point. They are booked
solid for March. Mid April is wide open though.
I also asked about clearence under the foot bridge it is 12 ft. As the boat ramp is on the North side.
There are several little Mom & Pop motels close to
Long Point which is just on the north side of Sebastian Inlet. Whatever we do, we need to act quick. I also contacted Jetty Park at Canaveral. The only downside is no in-water dockage for the boats. Peanut Island was discussed, but decided to much of a zoo for us ole'geezers. We are open to suggestions.
We would really like to accomadate our South Florida members
for this gathering. Capt Chuck and I also tossed around a meet in the upper Keys.....
Lets hear it

PS: I have already lined up a bunch of stuff for another
raffle to cover the cost of putting this thing-on.

See ya, Ken

Re: Long Point info

Longpoint is awsome!!!
It offers close access to some great fishing. The only down side, is at times, the no-see'ems will eat the flesh right off your bones. Jetty park can be a zoo, especially on weekends. I haven't been to one of the CSC "group" gatherings, but if your looking for waterside access to a boat, and decent camping/rv spots, you can't beat Longpoint.
If your looking for resonable dockside with a hotel, Dockside in in Ft Pierce is great, and you can usually get a group rate if you call them ahead of time.

I'll be trailering from Western New York State - 1250 miles at 12.5 MPG=100 gallons. That's not as bad as a weekend with the 20.

The JONES should be bad enough by then.

Hey Otto, that beats the crap out of trying to hand dig your way here. See what the snow plow gets for
MPG towing. :o It may be better.......
See ya in April, Ken

I have been on a 33' palmetto that fit under that bridge, and my boat fits fine, not even close. You just have to make sure your outriggers are in, and take the rods out of the top rod holders (don't ask :o).

If Otto's trailering, then there's no excuses for anyone(Bigshrimpin, Strick :o)..........The word LEGENDARY comes to mind with this next one on the East Coast. We will get in the Fishing Mags this time. Way to go Skiblet on stepping up to help out planning this one................While we are at it, we should chip in to buy Ken some quality polarized glasses so he can avoid running up on another sandbar at the next gathering :o

Susan and I are in, just let us know what the procedure for getting the sites

JohnB 11-14-2007 05:59 PM

Re: Long Point info

I usually stay at sites 40-70. They are a little deeper, and quieter. Also, they have a nice view of the water, and tend to have a few less noseemems and more of a breeze. Sites 1-30 can be rough when it comes to bugs!!! same for 100-113.

Re: Long Point info

I just reserved #81 tonight. Robert said it is big enough to have two boats park. If anyone wants to share the space let me know. Space #80 is still available in between the other CSC members. According to him #'s 76, 77, 78, 79, and 81 are CSC people.

I'm planning to come and just anchor out and stay on boat again as at Ft. Desoto. I presume all I'll need is a day pass and pay ramp fee. Denny

Re: Long Point info

I committed to a Long Point slip for April 11 & 12 from 1200 miles and 5 months in advance.

Let's see - should I bring the all original 1970 Seafari with 150 original hours? No - the motor is seized and the transom needs work. Or the terrific classic 20CC with the cute little 85 Evinrude? Maybe, after a lower unit reconditioning. Or the 4 years in the works 23 CC that has no wiring, no console, no t-top. Wait, you need a motor, right. I've got one of those somewhere. It has a trailer and I'm pretty sure it floats, so, what the heck - I'm in. :D Besides, Strick is flying here to help my fix one - or three...

Just go with the next sequential site number,
whether it be up or down.

I think this CSC gathering is gonna be "BIG" !!
Whata' you think?

The count down has begun

See ya, Ken

PS: Just an after thought, many of the RV places rent
motorhomes. This way those that do not want to tent camp or stay in a motel could rent an RV and stay at the campground
with the rest of us......... :D

Skiblet 11-15-2007 09:35 AM

Re: Long Point info

Dixon

Go for the lower numbers 75,74,73 etc. These are better than the ones in the cove as far as bugs go. Also I believe the pavillion will be closer to the lower #s.

Bushwacker some of the sites have room for two boats to beach.

JohnB 11-15-2007 10:30 AM

LONG POINT 4/11-4/12/08 *Camp sites are going fast

Longpoint has some interesting rules.
They allow one tent or RV per site, if you have more, they charge more. Some sites, you can fit 2 boats in, easily, so if your staying on the boat, they don't really seem to care. They have a trailer/car storage area, so you can ditch the trailer there. When I stay on the boat, I usually just get an "additional car" pass for a site where someone I know is staying, and stay on the boat.
Skiblet is right, if you can, you want to try and get the lower number ones in the 70's or 60's.

Re: LONG POINT 4/11-4/12/08 *Camp sites are going fast

I renamed this thread so our folks who may want to come, realize that after 3 days of this thread and less than 24 hours picking camp sites-WE ALREADY HAVE SITES 75-82? FILLED! We really need to get more motivated people:D.I just spoke with Kim @ Long Point Park this AM. I reserved #75, next to Carla and Skip. as said before by JohnB and Skiblet from local knowledge, start filling in the lower #'s for less bugs and being closer to the pavillion.

Re: LONG POINT 4/11-4/12/08 *Camp sites are going fast

I have #74 next to snookerd

question, mapquest sends me north all the way to 528 but 192 through St Cloud sure is a more direct route, how bad is that through there

NoBones 11-15-2007 05:20 PM

Re: LONG POINT 4/11-4/12/08 *Camp sites are going fast

Ok Boys & Girls,
For those that want to have a motel with dockage
call these people. right now they are about 80% booked for
April 11 & 12.
They are on the mainland side off US-1 about 3.5 miles
by water to Long Point Park. Again do not put off making
your reservations here as well. Sportsman's Motel & Marina

I will continue searching for additional locations...

I have not contacted these people, but 6.5 miles
North of the Inlet / 5.5 miles to Long Point on the
Ocean. Looks like a nice place.

Surf Caster Motel

At least he doesn't work part time teaching the art of throwing a cast net :D You may have a point, he had the site next to me last weekend and none of his family would come :D

I think I'll come through on 192 much shorter looking.

ARE WE A LITTLE FIRED UP????

I will let you run my boat to avoid any unforseen sand bars.
If you will let me throw the net...
I think we are all fired-up and there is 5 months to GO !
