Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
How many do you typically go fishing with in the 20? I've been offshore with 3 no problem and have contemplated taking a 4th. Thoughts?

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
I usually have 3 on my 20', the only times I take 4 is when the 4th is somebody's 10 year old son. Off east central Florida, we run a minimum of 15 miles offshore, 4 grown adults is just too crowded and too much of a load for being that far from shore.

4 is as much as I will go, but not comfortably. I like me a buddy at most when I fish. I will tell that 4th person to catch me next time I go.

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
man I think 4 is too many on my 23- and actually prefer 2. but with the price of fuel 3 is helping a little. I think 4 would be waaaay to many on a 20 personaly, but some of my friends only take baths once a month. I fished 3 casting for trout yesterday and with gear and such 3 again is ok but 4 would have been crowded.(on my 23) :D

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
I had a 20 foot Wellcraft 210 Center Console with a t-top and full curtains and I could fish 5 fat guys just screwing around for stripers in shore. I only take 3 people when I charter my 23 Seacraft and for serious fishing a total of 4 people is actually a-lot. Offshore fishing I will only take 3 people total on Both a 20 & 23 footer.

When fishing...."3 is a crew 4 is a crowd". This has gotton me into trouble with friends in the past :D

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
Just to add to this thread. My family had a 1978 20 master angler from 1978 to 1996. We used to fish offshore often and occasionally had four in the boat. No real big heavy guys and often one or two of the crew were teenagers. Three was the usual crew. Once we had eleven in the boat (approx. one-half were kids) for a short scalloping trip. The boat would barely plane. Our boat had extra five inches at the transom and a 175 merc that did not weigh as much as these newer motors. Transom height and engine weight are huge factors, of course; good luck buddy

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
I have an 18 ,and from what I gather off this site, has about the same capability of a 20. I think any more than 2 people on my boat is just to crowded to fish comfortably.

Re: Fishing 4 bodies on a 20 footer
Steve-Great comment on the max # of people in your 20. I had 5 adults and 6 kids in my 18 down in the Keys for a brief moment. It planed with a 130 Yamaha-barely.
