Re: 20' CC 1970 - 175 HP Yamaha
Thanks, Pat. I got your e-mail with pics. Good looking rig for sure. I have a call into the credit union in hopes I can scratch up the funds.
A few questions: -Looks like you set it up to be self bailing with those scuppers dumping out the back? -That back right hatch is the baitwell? Does it have a dump out the side of the boat? Does it have a cat's paw underneath for pick-up? Curious the set up on that? -Mine sat a little heavy in the rear with a 4 stroke 175 and jack plate. With the scissor jack and enclosed transom, does your's sitt heavy? thank ya |

Nice looking 20! I see you are a Clemson fan.I remember going through that part of SC and seeing paw prints everywhere.

Re: 20' CC 1970 - 175 HP Yamaha
A mountain biking trip in college took me through Clemson South Cackalacky. It is pretty cool. The whole town has paw prints on it. Even though my veins pulse Orange and Blue for the Gators, Clemson is one cool football town. I did a quaterback camp with coach Stockstill (QB coach back then) when I was a sophmore in high school. Getting to touch the rock and run down the hill into Death valley was a neat experience. I sit row 87 in Section 15 of The Swamp, so i get to experience the baddest stadium in the country about 6-7 times a yr. I would however like to go to a big game in Death Valley some day to feel what Tiger Pride sounds like. OK, enough about football. Sorry bout that fellas. It's one of the few things that get me more fired up than a well put together Potter built ;)

I'm with ya!! Love college ball, die hard Hokie!
I hope it works out for you on this boat.It appears to be a very nice 20. |
Re: 20' CC 1970 - 175 HP Yamaha
Yup, die-hard Clemson fan (only a sticker for all you Gamecock fans), but even bigger College Football Fan in general. Never been to the Swamp, I am sure it is one neat place to watch a game!
The scuppers were on the boat prior to the update modifications. They are very handy. The port side well has a thumb size drainhole that leads to the center of the hull and has forward access below the floor, it is not set up as a bait well. The starboard well has a 3/4" pipe with valve the comes up through the bottom and has a drain through the rear transom. It is obvious that the prior owner had it set up as a bait well, but I never used it or tested the valve (unfortunately, the only fishing pole I own has a Disney princess on the reel and a rubber duck for bait - my daughter likes to cast). The jack plate does move the large engine back about 12 inches, so it does sit a bit heavy in the water. The true benefit of the plate is ther versatility it allows to fine toon the boat while under power, a trade-off that I have been very happy with. Regards, Pete |
Re: 20' CC 1970 - 175 HP Yamaha
Nice looks 20 !
The bracket you have is trick, actually made by Jeff Porta (Porta Industries, Edgewater, FL.). The two aluminum plates, that hold alignment of base mounts, are for shipping and installation and can be removed after install....cleaning up the look of the bracket. This can be verified by going to Portaproducts.com and view their installs. That's a $2500 rig, installed. Good luck on sale. |
