Re: wanted 23cc
Hey Fellas,
Wanted to update few of those links: 1. One of my buddies went to look at the red boat; deck was soft and transom was shot. It's at atlantic and they wanted 6500 or 7000 for just the hull and trailer. (i.e. not a good buy). 2. I bought the $4500 hull and trailer. So, that one is not really on the market any more. I am new to the site, so I don't mean to step on anyone's toes. I agree that there are some good boats out there, now is the right time of year to be looking. -- best, KenB |
Re: wanted 23cc
the 17000 is for a good boat motor and trailer that is the most i can afford i've already have the electronics
|
Re: wanted 23cc
sent out e-mails to the two without pictures so we'll see what happens does anyone know them
thanks |
Re: wanted 23cc
This is not intended to slight anyone or any area but what is it with folk that will only consider a boat in their own backyard?! I know people from Rhode Island who have driven to Key West as recently as two weeks ago and trailered a boat home. It's not THAT FAR. There are so many more SeaCraft boats for sale in Florida than up in the Northeast and they are priced significantly cheaper down here. A long days drive down, a day to take it for a sea trial, and a long day home and you're DONE.
I live in Colorado half the year and my first day drive there or back is 1,300 miles, that's nearly the entire trip that anyone from the NE to FL would have - total one way. Leave at 3am and by the end of happy hour you're checking into your hotel, palm trees and cold drinks at your side. Please consider the fact that you'll own this boat for years, is one long weekend of driving really all that bad? |

Re: wanted 23cc

|
Re: wanted 23cc
I agree with Mark !!
Myself and two of my closest friends drove 1660 miles from Daytona, FL. to Deville, LA. (round trip) to pick-up my $560 78 Sceptre.... Yes, it is a project boat, but the time we had doing the male bonding thing was great!!! Scratchin', sniffin' & generally goofing off. You will not regret making a trip anywhere for the right boat... :D See ya, Ken |
Re: wanted 23cc
i just saw turf times boat and sent a message

Re: wanted 23cc
Looks like a super score on that hull and trailer Ken. Way to take charge. Trailer looks new in the little pic and so does the boat , and regarding the road trip to find a boat I think a road trip is always a worthy cause even @ $3.50/gal, especially to find your dream boat -- God knows I'm due for a road trip...Heard there was a Seafari worth savin' in JAX... Maybe I'll head to Long Point just to say Hello, and meet some of you guys

Re: wanted 23cc
MacG,
Thanks for the note. I was pretty excited about the hull; it needs a lot of work but in a good way. The trailer doesn't have brakes, so I might have to let it go. If I am going to put the amount of work and time into the hull that I plan to, I won't need a trailer for few years anyway! So anyone who needs a duelly with no brakes and 2 inch ball, drop me a line! The road trips are great, but I agree about gas (diesel is at $4 now), and I wouldn't trust my truck to pull a 23 for 200 miles, let alone up the east coast. I was just down in FL last weekend, and I completely agree that it is a different game down there. Does anyone know if the extra sun effects the gelcoat/glass in an appreciable way? No matter where you end up getting it, it's still a classic seacraft, and the whole process is going to be a blast. I have to be honest, there is no way I would have even contemplated this project without the website; strick's 20, that great 23 with new decks in SC, etc (and that's only the first 2 builds I have read closely!). -- best, Ken |
Re: wanted 23cc
Regarding "Sun" effect with the southern boats.
I have read that the "hull blister" issues are more prevalent with boats from the warmer/southern climates. I have seen this comment from a number of sources which appear to be reliable. Just somehthing else to be aware of and note when considering a hull from the southern climes. Just my "2 cents." |
Re: wanted 23cc
Or you can do as I did....saw a boat in Cape Cod,got a bunch a pic's,went back and forth with the broker, bought her and had her shipped to Key West sight unseen. :D

Re: wanted 23cc
Not to derail the thread but 4 bucks a gallon for diesel is a crime. Goin' for the same in SD. 30 min away in Mex it costs $2.11. A couple of buddies have 100 gallon tanks on their RAM 2500s and fill up every few weeks saving a couple hundred $$ per fill. It's a bit dirtier but with a couple of inline filters it's quite wothwhile. About time we got some help from the south side...

|
Re: wanted 23cc

http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/585995015.html there is another one on craigslist down here but looks like more of a project boat. If anyone else is looking for one '77 23 for $3600. |
Re: wanted 23cc
Here is the manufacturer by year list that I lifted from a Capt Chuck posting.
SEC = SeaCraft Inc (Potter 1969 thru 5/80) csy = Carribbean Sailing Yachts (1980-1982 23'& 27' SeaCrafts only) SIC = SeaCraft Industries Corp (1980 thru 1987 other SeaCraft Models) (Potter on Board of Directors approx 1 year after sale) TXY = Sarasota Marine Corp ('86-'88 csy Parent Co) SIC = Tracker SeaCraft of Fla (1987 thru 1990) all models SXC = Stern Craft Corp (1994 Silver King Parent then Tracker Parent Co in 1995) MIC = Silver King Boats (1994-2002 Mako Marine Parent Co) MRK = Mako Marine (2002 Parent Co SeaCraft from Tracker Regarding whether or not the 1987 is a good year boat, here is how I look at it. If you are really interested in the boat have it surveyed. Check for the shape of the deck and transom, as well as the engines, electronics and etc. Also, take it for a decent spin and see what you think of the ride. After you do this, i think that you will have your answer. Peter |
Re: wanted 23cc
we took a good look at it sat. original owner no bottom paint motors looked spotless (couln't have been cleaned this good)the boat seemed like it came out of a time capsule just no t-top i'm not the type to rush so i'm going to see it again just wanted some more thoughts on the year , waiting for solafide to see his as well
