Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Would love to see some updated pics from this machine. Noticed the cover is off. I believe some shots were taken this fall. Congrats to the owners and good running. Codfish and the Canyons I assume.

Sorry,

Not much progress yet this year, I am away on business for another week. I just had a new frame for the fish hatch made (28x60) , will start wiring all the new switches in next week. I took some pics before I left. Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Not sure yet, I splashed it loaded with fuel to get the water lines, but that was it. I need a few more solid weeks of good weather and less software. I copied Todd on the spray rails, put them in the exact location as he did on his 27, so I should know soon.

Kernal,

I have been wondering what ever happened with this project. I would say that it is pretty, but that may imply "dainty", which it is soooo obviously is not.

That is one of the most HANDSOME examples of what will prove to be one of the best boats in the area for those squirrely waters there in Chatham. Lord I miss those waters!

Capt. Brian,

It has AC, it is called Chatham Fog !! I have a Volvo Penta Heater that I may need even in the summer up here. The Engine is a VP D6-350 Jackshafted to a DPH drive with a G4 Propset (I think). Fuel is 150 gallons.

Is that the pilot house out of a shamrock openfish?

kerneltugboat 04-22-2008 05:49 PM

Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Yes,

It is a Shamrock Pilot house, I bought it on the side of the road for 400 bucks, it fit perfect. The Shamrock is set up to sit down in, so I had to build a 16" stand around it to be able to stand up. Bill Potter actually e-mailed me a few years back to ask who made it, so it must be OK !!! It is a little difficult to jig from, but the comfort makes up for it.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. Is the engine under the house with a jackshaft?

Dan, If you were to bring that beast to one of
our gatherings, you would also have to bring a box
of towels to wipe all the drool from the deck..
She is beautifull !!!!!!!!!!
See ya, Ken

Kernal, that boat is so sick. i saw you guys fishin off p-town pickin up some bluefish, then runnin out to the SW corner. i was on a 31' jc. it was pretty sloppy out, i would say 4'-7'+ seas, and the boat looked like she handled it great!

Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Chris,

I remember that day, the kid I was fishing with was impressed, he has a 22 Whaler and besides the pounding he would have taken, I only used 25 gallons, where he said he would have used 65 gallons or more.(2-stoke Johnson). I did not get anything that day, did you?

Were you fishing on Nov 10 Off of Chatham? Here is a video the guy fishing next to me made, I caught a Giant that day, and mine dressed at 600lbs, so it must have been close to 800. It was a little sloppy that day, (I Think Small craft were up) my boat took it well, even with almost 1000.00 pounds of Fish and ice in the front hatch. I am thinking about going tomorrow.

My brother loaded a video of the unloading of my fish; he was having some fun with the narration. He kept turning the video on and off so there were a few of them.

Kernel,

Impressive boat, and very impressive video. What a fish! Reminds me of when we swordfish, but the swordfish aren't that big...yet/hopefully.

Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

No Kernel we didnt land anything that day. after we ran out of bluefish and chum we chased some footballs around for fun. had a hundred +/- pounder on a spinning rod but my buddy broke it off after around ten minutes. no i didnt make it to the southside at all this year. glad you picked one up in that big bite tho. Again that 27 of yours is an awesome boat.

Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Thanks Chris,

I would be happy to take you fishing, especially up North, I rarely fish that area. As for the heat question from the previous posting, I do have a Volvo Penta heater, but I have not hooked it up yet. It seems to get warm enough with just heat from the engine, I am afraid if it got any warmer, I may never leave the Pilot House to fish.

I may go look around when I get back from Vegas this weekend, I think there may still be a few Tuna around off of Chatham.

Re: Pics of the 27 in Chatham?

Dan,
Let us know if you do get out there and find them! It's too cold for my cc Maritime Skiff, and the new Sceptre won't be ready till spring, but your next big bluefin might still be out there. You might be wishing that heater was hooked up though. Good luck!
