Fun,Sun and My Moesly
There are not many 41 year old boats still floating today. Very few if they are still floating, are 85% orginal. My 67 Mosely 19 is still doing what it was made to do, Have Fun... Here are a few pictures from a weekend of sun,fun and the Moesly.

Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
I have not posted much on the board, but I had to chime in here just to let you know that some of us on the east coast of FL do make the run to the islands at times. I think a good Seacraft gathering could be gotten together in the Bahamas next summer. It would be cool to see all the seacrafts heading over in a convoy.
I left St. Lucie Inlet July 31 and ran over to Walkers Cay. There is nothing left there since the Hurricanes a few years ago, but customs is about as fast as can be since not many folks clear there. Then we made a run down to Fox Town on Little Abaco for a week of Grouper fishing and deep dropping along with some mixed free diving and spearfishing. We had a pretty good grouper catch of 3-4 fish in the 20-30 pound range. The grouper bite was a bit slower than normal, but we did not spend the time on them that we normally do. We also picked up a yellowfin tuna and a bunch of yellow eye snapper along with a couple of Amberjack and a handful of large sharks. I am without the classic seacraft but I do run a 1998 23' Seacraft CC. We make this trip every year at the start of August. (skipped last year due to the fishing regulations in the Bahamas). We had a great crossing on the way over, the way back became a bit nasty as the wind was blowing from the west and the Sea of Abaco was chopped up. Once we reached 20 miles or so off the Florida Coast we hit a thunerstorm that kicked up the seas and stood the hair up on our necks for a few miles. Then it was back to the 35 knot slide we were on pre-storm. This was my first crossing in the seacraft. The boat performed very well and did not suffer any damage in the head sea that pounded up for 70 miles acrossed the sea of abaco. All in all a great week of fishing in a great location without all the hustle and bustle of home. I am already planning the next trip. |

PipeDreamsMarine, what a beautiful boat you have there! Nice!

Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
The 19 was a sweet boat. Love the green shear line. Also love the way you`ve set her up to multi-task. What effect did the arch and structure have on her?
Thx, GFS |
Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
Don, you have kept Sheila B looking VERY nice ... and great that you're enjoying her. IMO, the Bowriders are the most versatile boats and have not gotten their credit due.
I have 2 bowriders and it's amazing how little "boat repair" has been needed, mostly just cosmetic. To share pictures, here's a 1965 called "DD" for Dad's Design. Ugly ... yes, but solid. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t-Launched.jpg This one is a 1966 "CJ", restored in 2007, mostly cosmetic. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...ash22-Good.jpg They also make great fishing boats ... http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...nInglis008.jpg And my getting a few backing up lessons from the "Pro". He's not worried ... :o http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...nInglis016.jpg Don, Keep enjoying your Bowrider, they are great boats! I'm in Tallahassee right now & headed tomorrow morning up to the NC mountains to see my wonderful folks. Cheers, Carla |

Dang! That last pix looks like a print ad.

Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
The Sheila B looks like a Mini-Merritt. Ugly? Without the windshield it`s got great lines. I can picture C.J. cruising the canals of Venice w/ Sheila B.

Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
GFs.. The top didn't change the boat much, I drift a bit faster at times and I lost about 2 mph off of top end. But staying dry and keeping the sun of was a bigger gain. I took the windsheild off of mine because it was broken and flopped around. but I didn't like the looks of it with out it, so I made a go-fast style of venturi with a grab rail, which looked great. But with the enclosure you can't see it. The painting of the fake shearline was done to add a bit of color to the sides. The idea came from an old Arista-Craft boat. I felt it went with the era of the boat. But more people say the same thing you did about it looking like a mini Carolina style boat.
You can see the grab rail and venturi in this pic of my Son ham'n it up for the camera http://www.myfishpix.com/gallery/dat...cture_105s.jpg |

Don & 65bowrider-Great shots. The 19 does it all! 3 of the most classic SeaCrafts! |
Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
I only see 1 vhf, but 2 antennas. Is this for redundancy?
I haven`t thought about an Aristo-Craft for decades. My first thought was Ocean Master. I hear you on the sun. It`s in the mid 90`s now. I love T-Tops but I have a bimini because T Tops only shade you from noon til one down here. Your son already looks like he wants to hijack the boat. |
Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
GFS.. Being in the Tower/T-top business I'm very picky that everything matches and is symetrical. So I HAD to match up the 8'VHF with an 8' Fm/Am .....

Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
Don,
What's Tristin (sp?) doing on the boat? I thought that he would be doing some welding in the shop? Have you been doing any charters this summer? Peter |
Re: Fun,Sun and My Moesly
Snookered,
I am not sure how this post got here... I was for another thread, but I will keep an eye on that one and would be glad to help. Better than that, I will make sure to load up the boat for the trip. |
