the last pic is when we still had the I/O in the boat,and this was the usual situation when we went out,something would break , the batteries would run down,a hose would come off,or as you can see in the pic there was smoke pouring out of the vent holes and the rod holders while we were running alond. I just happened to look back , my wife was sitting on the engine cover and did not notice the smoke as it was being carried away due to our forward movement, also there was so much play in the outdrive you could not keep the boat straight when idling along . as you can see in the pics we went with outboard on the bracket with no regrets

I'll be honest I've never noticed it being hot.My favorite spot to ride when i"m not driving is to stand on the bar that holds the cooler under the leaning post and to hold onto the pipes at the rear of the top,it's a great view and a smooth ride, or sitting on the transom in front of the motor.

I just located a VHS video I shot of the boat before we converted to the outboard.It was shot just a couple of days before Hurricane Floyd hit eastern NC.I actually moved the boat to the protected side of my house during the storm , my wife said I cared more about that damn boat than any of our cars. If I can figure out a way to get still shots from the video I'll post some shots.
