1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
I bought this boat in 04 from Florida for 9k(unseeen). I thought I would completely redo it, but it was in too good condition, so far as transom and deck. I redid the console in bright finished mahogany and had custom starboard doors fabricated, I pulled the gunnels and reglassed them and put in two ss rod holders (backed), cut out bait well, two new bilge pumps (auto), wiring done professionally, electronics (Garmin FF, and new VHF), and painted it with 2 part linear polyurethane, in and out. Put in 4 under gunnel starboard rod holders. Comes with trailer, that got a new axle with those good shocks (forgot the name). My kids used it when they were around, but sitting in my boathouse now. 150 V-MAX Yamaha, carb., hours not known, year is 2000, the boat screams. Take it easy on the throttle, or you might go over the stern. I have 12 k into it, and a local offer for 5 k. Need more, make offers.

Re: 1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
How does she run with that Jackplate??
Is the transom solid? |
Re: 1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
I dont know what to tell you about how she runs with a jackplate, since it came with it. IMO, it is an absolute screamer with that engine. I am not an expert, but I do know that many people think performance at speed is enhanced by having a bracket or in this case moving the engine back with a jackplate.
It is no problem to unbolt it and bolt it directly to the transom. I got the boat in FL, and i expect it was used to fish in shallow, since it came with a 24 volt elec bow mount motor (I forgot to say, it comes with a really professional three battery set up, gel cells with a three bank inboard charger). As for the transom, I cannot tell. The flats jack is mounted onto a stainless steel plate. As I said, I bought it thinking I would gut it, and redo the transom etc. The only rot I could find was in the gunwales, which I took off and reglassed (epoxy fiberglass over mahogany). In looking at the stringers carefully, I could see one starboard side that had a little rot, but everything else was solid. Remember, I towed this up from FL with the 150 hp hanging off the flats jack. If it were rotten, I would have dropped it. Or, I would have dropped it running aground here in NC. |
Re: 1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
Transom is solid. Runs just fine with Jackplate.
Going to Multiple Listing this week. Get it while you can-make offers. chris chriselk@med.unc.edu |
Re: 1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
is thia boat still available
|
Re: 1975 18 foot Potter; 150 V-MAX For Sale
Transom is solid so far as I can tell.
Drove the boat up from Florida with the 150 hanging on the jackplate. It has a SS plate that Jackplate is mounted onto. I cannot say whether it runs better with or without a Jackplate, since I have never run it without. With the Jackplate and the 150, it screams. The hole shot will throw you off the stern if you are not paying attention. I have more pics posted on shutterfly now, so email me if you want more. chriselk@med.unc.edu |
