Gotta have a Carolina event

Okay guys we need to do a Carolina's/Virginia gathering .The pics and posts from the southern members make me jealous. We have great fishing right here , even if we can't get a good group of Seacrafts alone I know you can find a group of avid boaters that would love to get together for a long weekend of camping fun and fishing.Lets plan something.

We could do the Outer Banks.
Im sure we could find room for all the boats in Hatteras.

Thanks
Capt J.R.

Excellent , Hatteras and Ocracoke in the fall are very close to the Gulf Stream . Check out http://marine.rutgers.edu/mrs/show/?...5.1802.n18.jpg

I have seen the warm water temps within 7 miles of Ocracoke inlet several years back. I have also seen a Nat. Geo. special on schools of tuna that stay just offshore NE of Cape Lookout . In fact a record Bluefin was caught on flyrod that was recorded on the Spanish Fly show .They were recording a show aboard Capt. John Jenkins boat when the call came thru that a potential record was hooked up . They motored over and videoed the event. I have seen it on TV , it was a monster Bluefin.

What's Up! My SeaCraft will not be making the journey but it looks like I may be celebrating my 42nd birthday in Manteo! Next season may work out for an adventure up there but my brother and I (Vezo Part I, 1987 SC 18), have very little experience with tuna. We are avid Striper fisherman originally from Jersey, and that is what I'll be targeting this month, should the weather hold out.

We are both firefighters, and have some connections locally for a get together, but the Gulf Stream is so far its much better inshore NOW! I'd be willing to travel north but I'd rather put up a couple of people here for the Spring gathering in Fla.. I like the idea of a Carolina gathering, but it sure would be easier to trail a 15' Whaler up there! What do you think? Vezo, Part II.

Anyone near Manteo for a little Holiday Cheer? I hear I'll be very close to Pirates Cove.?.

All right , glad to see the interest.I just heard on the radio this morning that the bluefin are already showing up on the east side of the cape.Dr. Bogus had a report on this morning on my way in to work. Some were caught within 15 miles on the east side and several also on the west side.

Re: Gotta have a Carolina event

Are you thinking about a campground event , like across the Bridge/Tunnel? I spent a year and a half in Accomac county back in 2001/2002. Kept the boat outside of Onancock. We ran back and forth to Tangier Island for 3 weeks doing some appraisal work, every evening we fished until it was still enough light left to dodge all the crab pots on the way back.Anywhere you fished you could load the cooler with BIG croaker. We also fished out of Watchapreague on the seaside but never had any luck. Have you ever been there for the flounder tournament in the spring? I've seen pictures of and a mount of an unbelievable flounder on the wall at The Island House Restaurant.

I could go for eastern shore VA. keep me and Miles Offshore advised, home PH. 757-488-3887. Or maybe Morehead NC. If I can still talk to the new owners of 70 WEST Marina and set something up there, no one is like Jesse there.

It would be fun to get together with a few other SeaCraft guys....I'll be keeping my boat in Charleston this summer at Isle of Palms Marina. Plan to move it there sometime between March 1st and April 1st.

Dont have a picture posted yet (havent figured that out yet).....but it is a 20 ft SC CC w/ dark green hull and t-top.

My SeaCraft will be sitting on a trailer at the marina when not in the water....hopefully lines in the water as often as possible.

If anyone is in the neighborhood, please reach out, so we can meet up~

Here's to spring and getting back on the water soon

Be aware of the LONGGGG no wake zone running south from there during the summer months.

Re: Gotta have a Carolina event

sorry guys I have not been keeping up with this thread lately , it seems there is some genuine interest in a get together. I have some contacts with some real estate people on Ocracoke , I'll test the waters and see what might be possible , with the slow down in the real estate market there might be some great opportunities,i'll post my findings

Knot Working , a good friend of mine just bought a 26 ft'r from 70 West and he is always looking fishing partners, he has just retired and has a place at Salter Path he would be a good guy to help coordinate a gathering , I'll touch base and get back to the forum with any info. Thanks for the response to all, I think we can have a get together to rival our southern brethren

Oh look , I just saw Jeb Stuart riding around The Army Of The Potomac AGAIN!
All kidding aside , that would be great, but I think you`ll have to go some as I have a feeling the Keys is going to be the mother of all gatherings!
All you really need to do is hop a plane, rent a car, and enjoy. I , like many others, have room for fishing buddies. That`s just not a problem. Offshore, Florida Bay, Buggin the canals. What`s not to like? All that and a t shirt to boot.

I would love to be able to get to the Keys for the event. My son and some of his Frat. bros. rented a house 2 blocks off Duval and they had a blast. They Chartered a boat and had some good luck with bottom fishing for Grouper ;also caught some Yellowtail.

okay GFS you got me scratching the old noggin. What days are the event at Key Largo goin to be.I just had my 50th birthday and my wife has decided to give me a 450.00 day of driving a nascar race car at the track of my choice.I'm thinking of trading that in for the keys event. My sons 23rd birthday is 4/1/2009 and he is interested in making it a father and son event.Roundtrip flight from Raleigh /Durham to Miami early Wed. the 1st. is only 300.00 / each. I,m going to do my best to make this happen.Anyone with any info. as to do's and don'ts about this planare welcomed
