I pull my boat every chance I get. Mostly on the weekends. I will pull it to the water before daylight and back home after dark, hopefully it will have some fish in it for the ride home.

Is there some reason you would not use the boat for part of the year? I sure am glad I live in SFL.

Re: when do you pull your boat for the season ?

In that case, I will need to leave a boat in the Bahamas in order to continue to get my fix.....

Actually, while there is not really a time when I stop fishing and winterize the boat I do have a certain drop off in the use of the boat as Fall and Winter near. I think it is more because I neglect many items through the summer and need to get back on them. It also has to do with the fishery that exists in the Summer vs the Fall and winter. I am not a fan of catching billfish, or Kingfish and with the changing weather those seem to be the active targets.

I will get out on occaision all year, but I basically throttle back late in August when I return from my annual Bahamas run. I will get back to a very active boating and fishing routine again late April or May.

Hey Scrapper,

If you have an outboard, you can leave your boat in until freeze up. At the end of the day tilt her up to drain the water out of the head and put her back in so the hub is just under the surface. If you leave the motor out of the water you run the risk of water freezing and cracking the hub. If it's an inboard or I\O you can usually get away with putting a light bulb in the engine box over night but I don't recommend that. Especially if you have tranny or p.s. coolers. We sometimes leave the aluminum and steel boats in till we cant break the ice anymore. As long as you don't get more than 3" of ice over night, you're in good shape.

Just the Canadian boys 2 cents
