O.K., just registered tonight! I want to take this opportunity to say what a great bunch of people! You made my wife and I feel right at home and we felt so comfortable around you all! Thanks to Carla & hubby (forgive me, I'm not good with names) for inviting us in, to Ken for the Exedrin and Sandy for the gourmet dinner Saturday night!
As a Pursuit owner, you all are O.K in my book :D Seriously, what a great group of people! Thanks to Ryan and Renee for introducing us to you all and putting up with my out-of-the-blue headache  |

Re: Keys Results thread
RiverRat-Nice slam . Another quality gathering. I can't say enough about the hospitality of 65 Bowrider and the adult beverages compliments of Carl and Jeanne. The island life style has obviously kicked in with Skip and Carla. Thanks to all for the fish/FL lobster/food everyone provided. Great snorkeling with Denny on a 40 mile round trip on Sat. and a flawless offshore trip with Briguy on Sunday. Outstanding fishing on the Stocks and Blondes with my 2 boys.

Re: Keys Results thread
Many thanks to all who made the mother of all gatherings!
Lets talk about the capability of the VDH hull shall we: Capt Chuck n Admiral Lil, No Bones and Patti, and D& D on Doodlebug all went out Friday...... Gusting to 30+ ,5 to 7 ft seas and they CHOSE to head out with their signifigant others. NoBones is a 20 BTW. 12 ft. swells is all I need to say. The hull tells the rest of the story here. Pressed on time. More to come. GFS Many, many thanks to Skip and Carla for having the courage to host such an upwelling of pirates. :D |
Re: Keys Results thread
Many Thanks to Skip & Carla!! Their "Generous Offering-Up" of their home too all us SeaCafters was beyond hospitality.
"THANK YOU" Carl & Jeanne for the Open Bar. You guys were deeply missed. BTW Carl, I want a ride in that '72 with the VDH  Congrats Carla on your first Mahi-Mahi http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...k/P4050010.jpg |
Re: Keys Results thread
Although I was unable to make down for the weekend, I got a change to meet some of you on Sunday before heading out. All I have to say is.....THANKS for the hospitality, and what a great group of people!
Rob p.s. Brazilian bikini models and water shoots yet to come..... :D |
Re: Keys Results thread
Yes Sir!! Skip and Carla went way "above and beyond the call of duty" on their hospitality!! Thanks to all for the very nice welcome for Deb and I to the SeaCraft gathering family. However after thinking about this some more....I'm still not sure all these SeaCraft folks are 100% normal. :D
Oh yeah.....after the dinner Friday and then the mega feast Saturday night I think my colestoral is now way above anything Crestor can fix. |

Oh yeah.....after the dinner Friday and then the mega feast Saturday night I think my colestoral is now way above anything Crestor can fix.
Anyone can be normal, it takes serious determination and dedication to be truly unique. I embrace the difference :) Some of you have expressed an interest in the "recipe" for my world famous kick a** grillled marinated veggie terrine. I weigh ingredients when making pastry , but I dont measure when I cook, so I`ll do my best. You can pm me or I can post it here for all to enjoy at their gatherings. Whoops, I forgot our northern bretheren don`t have the recipe for gatherings. 1} pick a place and date. 2} rig for hours and hours. 3} pack up the tow rig and drag the old girl doiwn the road. 4} ENJOY! Like most great recipes, it requires few ingredients and outstanding execution! GFS |
Re: Keys Results thread
What else can be said that has not already been covered...
Skip & Carla a BIG Thank-you for going all out!! Jeanne and Carl thank-you for the fasionable adult beverages. Wish you could have been there to enjoy with the rest of us. The fresh fish that all contributed made this the BEST one yet.. At least no-one left skunked in catching a fish in the Keys. For our new found friends DonV & Deb (Five-O) there were no guarantees either expressed or implied as to the normalcy of this group. :D BTW, your fried Mahi was to die for.. Thanks!! As for the Friday afternoon outing in those 10+ foot waves in 280 ft water 13 miles out was a true test of my wifes courage enjoying the roller coaster. :) Greg (my cuz) "river rat" maybe you can make the next one. You are always looking for an excuse to vacate the frozen tundra of NH... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3291.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3300.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3318.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3334.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3353.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3357.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...4/100_3344.jpg See ya, Ken |

Go Doodlebug! http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...yLargo-019.jpg This gathering was such a blast! Skip and I were so pleased to be a part of it and to share. Thanks to NoBones for the fishing trip Saturday & bringing in the king mackerel and to Capt. Chuck for Sunday's trip where I caught my first Dolphin! |
Re: Keys Results thread
Looks like another great time, I hate that I missed out! Congratulations.

Re: Keys Results thread
Great summary Carla! Glad you and Skip got to have some fun too besides doing all the work to host this event! Your generosity in sharing your home is overwhelming and was much appreciated, as was that of your folks in providing all the refreshments! Sorry they couldn't make it, but it's nice to know your dad still hasn't lost the magic touch, what with the launching of that 75' sportfish, the world's largest SeaCraft!
Shadow had a great time with all the attention and handouts and didn't want to leave . . . when I started to put on the harness she wears in the truck (she normally sits up tall to make it easier to put on) she laid down to make it harder to put on! When we got home she immediately curled up in her bed . . . completely worn out! Probably the way you felt too! Thanks again for a great time! Denny |

Re: Keys Results thread
Nice fish!....
Has anyone tried making Ceviche with Dolphin? |
Re: Keys Results thread
Thanks Rob. As was said earlier by Carla, the lack of pictures clearly indicates the 24/7 fun we had down there. I of course made my standard " We have to move here......"comment. So, when Jenan said moving back to Jupiter would be great, I would say that this Keys trip allowed my priorities to be realigned with having fun with the family. If you missed it, I don't need to say anything to you, the comments and pictures kinda torture you enough

Re: Keys Results thread
Wanted to show the pesky 15 pound dolphin that we, as in my wife, caught Sunday while anchored up yellow tail snapper fishing. 10# test line, #2 hook, no leader, hooked inside the mouth and an hour later a nice dinner or two. I'm thinking it's the SeaCraft.

Re: Keys Results thread
I wanted to say Thank you Skip and Carla for the Wonderful Hospitality you showed us and everyone else!!!! You guys made us feel right at home and We absolutly loved your wonderful home, and had the time of our lives, you guys have to come out with us when we are down for a week in August to go diving and fishing. I wanted to say sorry we didn't seem more social as we spent almost all our free time out on the water fishing, and diving. We get pretty aggressive when it comes to going after fish, and lobster lol, But we loved everyone's company and are glad that Everyone caught Fish and had a Blast!!!! I even went diving and found a nice rod and reel :D !!

Re: Keys Results thread

Re: Keys Results thread
Finally DSL bliss.
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...an/work058.jpg Caught this little bugger on a sabiki while fishing with Denny. Anyone know what it is? http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...th_work059.jpg Capt. Chuck and Admiral Lil kindly invited me to fish on the Gucci 23. Florida Sportsman used to do a series on "One Man`s Dreamboat" and their boat certainly qualifies. Get this, the cover for the freshwater shower is the sideplate from a Penn International. All of the wants and needs of any professional Capt. fall to hand. Logic and function are the driving force here. The tray over ice for natural bait storage. The electrical block under the transom for easy pump changeouts. Everything falls to hand. Well, almost as Chuck had a good laugh as I tried to reach the radial riggers as we set up to troll. I`m short and not supposed to jump, but that`s another story. It was an easy 2-4 with an ocassional 6 footer thrown in. I was interested to see how the 23 stacked up against some other boats I`d fished on. We had talked strategy the night before, and set up the spread. We had talked about running a shotgun WAAAYY back for Tuna, and it was killing me that we weren`t running one. Chuck had a nice snake King in the box shortly and lost a schoolie at the transom. I was looking at my favorite rod , an Avet lx7 6-1 on a Chaos 7ft. kf 15-50 and chimed in about the shotgun. I had 350 yds. of new pink Ande spooled up with 7 #`s of drag at the tip. We sent a 5 inch black and purple jet head about 200 yards back. 20 minuites later it went off and one word came to mind. Tuna! What follows is the reason that we love, and can`t live without our CC`s. The tuna started ripping line out and Chucked yelled at me to advance the drag. I yelled back get the lines in we`re going to have to chase this sucker down. I was carefully thumbing the spool as Chuck spun the boat. All hands on deck helped to bring in the tangled spread. I went around the boat a couple of times. This was no Bonita! The bandit was getting closer and took me under the bow twice. I stuffed all 7 feet of Chaos in the water and stumbled around following the fish back and forth. I was NOT going to lose this fish. Tit for tat and 15 minuites later Chuck stuck the gaff at the bow. High fives were exchanged all around. On the way back in Chuck gave me one of those watch this looks. He trimmed the stern up and pushed the single lever control forward. We jumped on top and I braced for the inevitable slam upon re-entry. What happened next blew my mind. The Boat landed softly and sneezed the snot out the chines amidship as we outran the spray. Huh? What? I have been on my brother`s Mako 23 in similar conditons and it landed hard and shuddered like a cold wet dog. Even worse on a Jupiter 31, although we were wide open with a tool at the helm. Geno`s 28 Mako also lands like a brick , but you don`t get the shudder of the Jupiter, or to a lesser degree my brothers Mako 23. Many thanks to Chuck and Lil for ruining me for life. I want a 23 BADLY. GFS Skip the smoked King was beautifully executed. Some of us have been talking about making a plug of the 21. After reading about the performance of the F&S, it really needs to be done. Carla mentioned something about some improvements Carl had in mind. Hint hint nudge nudge. Albury Bros is around the corner and would be a perfect fit for a builder. Quality all the way! |
