25 Seafari
Found this on Craigslist and when I went to look at her, she followed me home. Engine's blown, windshield's gone, and the gelcoat above the shear line is toast, but she's structurally sound. Trailer's in pretty good shape, too. Second Seacraft in the fleet, first Potter. My 20 SF is just too small for those offshore trips.
With a repower and rewire she'd be minimally seaworthy, but I have a longer list of modifications I want to make. At a minimum, I want to put a windshield on and put the helm back in the original configuration. http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2501.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2512.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2503.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2504.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2505.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2507.jpg http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...9/IMG_2506.jpg |

Re: 25 Seafari
It looks like the windhsield is the same as the 23 sceptre, if it is I have one you can have for the balance of what I owe the guy ($60.) The boat is located in Pasco County. I believe the only section that is not glass is the very center that swings out, looks like plexi. You would need to remove from the boat.

Re: 25 Seafari
Thanks for the comments. It will be a while before I can do anything with her that requires $$. Replacement vehicle for the wife has to come first. In the meantime, I'll be tinkering a little and kicking around some ideas.

The top of the Seafari 25 windshield is about 6' off the floor so unless you're Shak, You need the ventilating windshield. Good luck with the project Blue Heron. I'd be happy to take any measurements or help out if I can. Judging by the floor around the engine hatch, yours may have been set up with twins originally. Brandon BTW good idea going with original helm. You wan't to have as much weight forward as possible |

http://www.classicseacraft.com/forsale/aloha/0011.jpg See the post at 27' SeaCraft 1968 Fly Bridge Post #39159 Only 3 of these flybridge models were made with single big-block V8/TRS power from the factory, and they got the same engine box as the twin 250 ci motors. Notice the deck lines are very like the 20' and 25' Seafari. http://www.classicseacraft.com/forsale/aloha/0002.jpg This is my favorite Seacraft model. The Royal Bahamas Defense Force has used one of these 1969 27' models as a drug interdiction patrol boat since 1983. (It is still in use, but in 1994, it was converted from twin sterndrives to twin transom-mount 275 hp OMC V8 outboards, and then repowered to twin Yamaha 300 hpdi in '02.) |
Re: 25 Seafari

I'm going to move the conversation over to the Repairs/Mods forum to kick around some ideas. I'm sure I'll have questions for you and the other Seafari 25 owners as I move through the work. I'll try to keep progress pics posted, too Dave |
Re: 25 Seafari
Frank there is one of those 27 flybridge's on craigslist in palm beach for what seems to be pretty inexpensive to me. I had never seen one before the add on craigslist. Looks like a pretty nice boat!

Re: 25 Seafari
I picked up this 68 SeaMaster from the guy that bought it back in 2006 or 07. I have only had her a few weeks now and I have been repainting and updating the cabin. I don't think any maintenance was done to her for a couple of years. Last week I was able to get the engine started and it ran great. This week I'll be working on the electrical and the outdrive. This is a heavy boat but we pulled it with a Dodge RAM 2500 with no problems. I'll post some pictures later on. Can't wait to take her out on the water. :)

Re: 25 Seafari
Here are a few pictures. The first is a before picture from a couple of years ago. One of the pictures shows some of the work I am doing to the cabin. Today I started the engine compartment rewire and paint. I'll post some of the finish compartment when I am done. I might start a new thread for that.
thanks, Mike http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...50002/0002.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0151.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0152.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0153.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0155.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0156.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0157.jpg http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...2/DSC_0158.jpg |
Re: 25 Seafari
Wow! What a score!
If Bodine couldn't get 12-5 for it 3 yrs ago, I can't imagine the bargain you got TX Mike. Congrats! |
Re: 25 Seafari
Thanks,
you would not believe the deal. I traded a 15ft custom cat with a 50hp Johnson for it. :) |
Re: 25 Seafari
nice find, now thats the perfect diesel candidate, i would be curious to know the performance numbers with the 330hp 454ci and the weight of that battleship.

Re: 25 Seafari
Yes, so will I. I just hope it's not that bad. LOL The guy I got the boat from said he ran 40 miles out and back on about $60 of fuel when it was just under $2.00 a gallon. He said he ran it at about 2500 to 3000 rmps. That's about 2.6 miles to a gallon. I hope to find out soon what it will do.

Re: 25 Seafari
THAT AINT TO HORRIBLY BAD FOR A BOAT THAT HEAVY... I THINK THE IMPORTANT ? IS WHAT KIND OF LOAD DID HE HAVE... KEEP US POSTED...
|
Re: 25 Seafari
True but that is going by what he said. I'll find out when I'll find out for sure when I get it out on the water.
