How To Replace Bow Eye

I know it is a stupid question but I need to replace the Bow Eye and can't figure out how to get to it. I have a 77 20 MA. I looked in both forward compartments and could not see how to get to it. I even pulled the carpet back in the forward most compartment and no such luck. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks'
Ken

I'm having the same challenge on my 70 20 safari...below, from the under the floor storage there is no access, above that it the tray the anchor sits on. I think I'm going to have to fut through the anchor shelf and go in that way. I'll be interested to hear the responses...I'm sure someone's been thought this before.

The Seafari has an access hole for the bow eye underneath the anchor locker, behind the plywood bulkhead at front of cabin. Should be about 4 screws in lower part of bulkhead that fasten it to the step/anchor locker shelf. The top of bulkhead is just wedged against the underside of deck. Once you remove the bunk cushions, it's easy to pull the bulkhead.

I was on my friends '79 18' CC over the weekend and his forward anchor locker had a hole cut in it where the previous owner had accessed the bow eye. If your boat has an inner liner this may be the only course of action.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.

Right on, there is no access to the bow eye on the 20 MA. I had to cut a hole using a hole saw thru the anchor locker to attach the nuts. Just be careful not to drop your nuts!! :D

Now Rich, you know better than go around talking like that!!! What do want to do, derail this thread or what? "Drop you nuts!", please! ;) ;)

Even be more careful not to drop your 1/2" ratchet with 3/4" deep well socket on your nuts while tightening!!!!

I didn't drop the nuts but I did drop the washer and had to go get another one.

Prob 2 late for tips, but I just replaced the bow eye on my 23, I did not like the skimpy stainless backing that comes with bow eyes, so grabbed a big piece of steel and drilled out 2 holes for the backing plate. required an extra long bow eye screw threads to have the room to play with.

You meant to say "a big piece of stainless steel".....right? At minimum, aluminum. If not, I can hear the rust already. My 2 cents worth.
