I'm getting some for a 20 cc with a yamaha f150.Any comments on bennets or lencos? Bad or good it's ok.Also what size works best for a twenty footer.Do elec. lencos give alot of trouble? Thanks

i have bennet m120's on my 20sf. they are great. definetly get them. they make a huge difference in the boat. with them i can plane at about 12-13 mph. only been a few years on there but no problems yet. very easy install too.

Thanks I gotta get some it's killin me.It was not so bad but then I rode on a boat like mine with them.

I like Lencos, no oil. Gillikin in Morehead C has some on a 23 CC.
He convinced me to get them.

I've been running the SAME Bennett tabs on my boat since about 1977. Only problem I ever had was the joystick control, which I had to replace a few years ago! If you do go with Bennets, I'd recommend using the sealed 4 button control instead of the joystick. Less intuitive but more durable. Their customer service is second to none! CSC Member Fellowship works for them and can advise on best model for your boat.

As for the Lenco's, I guess they're a little easier to install, but the very concept of electric motors around saltwater makes me nervous. The fewer electrical gadgets on a boat, the better, in my experience. The commercial guys have been using hydraulic systems for decades with few problems!

Most of my buddies have lencos they seem to be more popular here at least on smaller boats.But I do agree with your statement about the electric motors and saltwater.Thanks

Love my Bennets. I have the 9 x 12 drop wing style on my 18. If I was to do it again I'd take the NoBones route, biggest ones that would fit! Probably less drag the larger you go; lower angle of deployment to keep the bow down.

Bigger is better !

To help you decide which ones to buy, these Bennett Tabs on my 1970 20 SF are original. Only thing I reused when boat was rebuilt in 1992. They at very least are 35 years old and
still going.

I've run both Lenco's and Bennets and I think I like the Lenco's better. The Lenco's are easier to install and are a bit faster then the Bennets That said both are fine products and I don't think you will go wrong with either choice. The Volvo's are interesting and I may try them on the next boat re do.

My brother-in-law told me about a guy that had some electric tabs on his boat. Some how the guy hooked up the motor wrong or they lost their ground but he had put it over board like on a Friday and when he pulled it out of the water Sunday the tabs were just about corroded into. Not saying this is a everyday accurance but I guess it is always possible. I guess the electrolysis ate them up in a very short period of time. I have heard of aluminum boats and pontoons doing this over time if the boat has a bad ground or has a short to the hull. That is why I am going to try my best to make sure everything electrical on my boat is good now that I am going to have an aluminum bracket.

I will finally have my tabs working today. One switch on one side was bad. Took a while to figure out, but am ready to rock and roll now. I have bennetts and they seem pretty bullet proof. I have never been on a boat with the electric tabs so I don't have an opinion on that.

My new to me 2002 Seavee has Lenco tabs. One switch was bad. I called Lenco to order a replacement and they sent it as a warranty replacment no cost to me. Installed the switch and now they work like new. I am impressed with thier customer service. The tabs are fast. A little tab goes a long way on that boat.

Thanks again guys.Think I might have a hard time making up my mind.I'll probably end up going with the more affordable of the 2.
