1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Hey all. Just bought my first Seacraft and stumbled onto this site. I'm in coastal NC. I'll get pictures on later. I've been in many boats, but, none compare to the Seacraft. Happy to be part of the group.

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Welcome, Captain!
Now don't be too bashful. The only stupid questions are the ones not asked or the ones asked for the umteen millionth time. A suggestion that I ended up finding out for self was, learn to use the search features and when you think you know what you would like to do to your boat, do a search- it's better than aspirin for avoiding headaches or repeating someone else's mistake! |
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
You'll see I'm not too bashful. My baby is all original except the power, so, I don't plan on any changes anytime soon. I'm uncovering it this weekend to work on the teak and go fishing, so, I'll have pictures up soon.

Where in NC are you?

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
I'm in Edenton. The Albemarle Sound is my playground. I fish the Outer Banks from time to time, but, haven't had the chance to take the SC down there yet.

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
My son lives in Edenton! Home of Carolina Classic, Albemarle, and Regulator boats!

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Edenton is a NICE town! Have stayed at the Trestle House several times! I love how the folks there got together to keep out Wal-mart to keep it from killing the downtown! I hope that success continues - been about 8 years since I've been there.
Tried to convince my wife we should at least get a summer place there, but probably will have to get daughter to move there first! Lots of water for boat testing there, and I'm sure the Albemarle Sound can kick up enough for some good rough water trials! |
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
My uncle started Albemarle Boats. I've been a bilge rat all my life. Who's your son?
|
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Still no Wal-Mart and plenty of water. I've taken some of my friends out for their first ride on a SeaCraft and they are truly impressed. Next time you get up here, give me a shout.

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Uncleboo,
My son is David Brooks - pastor of Edenton Baptist church. He is good friends with Mack Privott at Carolina Classics. I believe Mack and your uncle were in business together at some point if I got the story right. |
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
By the way Bushwhacker - I got my ETEC 150 last week on my 20SF- sweeeeet!
|
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
You have a fine son. Well respected and admired. I don't attend his church, but, hear good things about him. I would like to meet you next time you're up here, maybe take a boat ride! I think alot of Mack. They were associated until Mack started Carolina Classic. All of them are in tough shape right now.

Re: 1975 SeaCraft 18 CC
Glad to hear that Wally mart has stayed away from there! Will definitely give you a holler next time I get up there, maybe next summer!
RonBrooks - you need to post some speed/mpg numbers when you get that sucker dialed in! Would be interested to hear what prop you're running. I'd recommend running the full synthetic XD100 oil - I understand that it uses so little oil and burns so clean you don't ever have to worry a decarbing engine if you use that stuff, so may save $ in long run! Re: 1975 SeaCraft 18 CC
Soon as I get my new GPS/sounder mounted and the wiring done I will post some numbers. I got under the console to find out why my trim tabs quit working after the new engine was installed. Found a broken splice. One thing led to another and I have the whole wiring bundle loose and am now going to do it right. 39 years of "people" wiring under that console - you can imagine. So, I have new wire, new terminals, new switch plate, etc.

Ron,
Congrats on the initiative. TAKE your TIME and a LOT of pictures. Think of this as Romper Room; we learn from and understand pictures best!   |
Re: 1975 SeaCraft 18 CC
BigLew,
I took the wiring redo on my 20SF over to the Repair/Mod discussions |

Uncleboo,
I sent you a PM. |
Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Ron, spoke to my fishing buddy who knows David and attends his church. Next time you are up here, we're going to take you and David fishing. Are you here yet? :D

Re: 1975 Seacraft 18 CC
Actually we will be there by tomorrow (Thursday) night and leave to come back home Tuesday. I think we plan to fish Sat or more likely Monday since Sat is Halloween. Under the bay bridge for rockfish. If you can do this it would be awesome! I was going to drag my boat up there but I have a u-haul trailer load of furniture for David that I have to take. PM me you number and I will call you. We head out early in the morning.
