Thanks Joey. This boat has been alot of work costing alot of time and $$. I Love this boat, but went way over budget (39K in 09'). I've loved the lines of the 23 SC for years. I hate to get rid of it, but something that I need to do.

Nicely Done Richard,

Do you have any pictures of the cockpit?

An estimate of hours on the motor?

Max width on the trailer?

Thanks
-Rob

beautiful boat. Very clean style / rebuild.

Has anybody else noticed that the VHF ant is mounted in a different location in every picture????

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

77 Sceptre- yea I move it around to play with peoples emotions, but seriously, it is mounted with ss bolts & nuts to the port side, on top of the console. I dont know how your seeing it.
RobErnst- I will get the info. requested.
Thanks for the comments. I spent alot of time fishing in FL and like the lines of many of the smaller custom boats, it was my goal to make this boat as clean as possible. There are not many custom style boats here in TX, every one over here jumps on the Contender or some other brand bandwagon (not that they're bad boats, just everone has them). I'll try to post some pics of the build and the interior.

I remember this boat from Craigslist late last year or early in 2009 (Conroe Texas), I ran the numbers to do the work you have done. I think it is a fair asking price and a great looking rig.

What's the deadrise on the hull? And how fast can that 250 move that boat? How deep is the cockpit at the stern?

Really nice looking boat

I would also like to know the fuel burn #s with the 250hp ox66 out back.

Good looking boat.

RWatts23 10-21-2009 09:12 PM

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

I'm guessing the fuel burn is 2+ or so, I really have not ran the numbers. We usually fish one day (35 or so miles), and then take the family boat riding the next couple of days/sneak in another fishing trip, then fuel up. Just had the bearings changed & greased today, ready for the highway! I'm taking it down south to Rockport, TX for where there is more traffic.

Must be a bad market... Have had nothing but a bunch of tire kickers.. New asking price 45K!! Thats what I've put in it in the past 9 months.

Pretty boat. I'd suggest listing it as far and wide as possible......even on sites that may not be thought of as 'boat sites' (craigslist, etc).

I am shocked you havent sold this boat yet!?!?! I may try and get someone over to you to have a run and look at it if possible?

Im still in Australia, but with the $US in the shitter (it's almost 1:1 now),its looking alot easier to bring something over.

bump for a sweet boat.
i have a question for you about the boat. i just bought an 87 23'. does yours have wood stringers or are they foam filler glass like the older ones? i havent cut mine up yet but im still wondering. thanks

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

Do you have any photos of the new floor and floor hatches, also any pics of the work being done floor & transom? Are all the thru hulls new and what are they made out of? Does it have trim tabs?

Thanks

RWatts23 01-24-2010 12:17 PM

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

It has the glass stringers w/foam fill. I cut a few test spots with a hole saw just to double check for water intrusion- they were all dry. I'll try to post some pics to the thread. No trim tabs, but for this price you can afford your own.

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

there are more pics on yachtworld, tebh boat is now listed with Texas Sportfish & Yacht Sales. Except for the fish box drain, all through hulls are new. The ones on the prt & stb side are for live well drain and bilge- they are poly or nylon-cant remeber. The two in the transom for the deck are bronze. There is also one brass thru. in the bilge w/a strainer outside of the hull, this one has a block valve-this is for the live well. the live well is 45 gal. and keeps em' alive while your running.

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

Richard,
I am very interested in your boat.
It's beautiful.
I'm not sure when they stopped building Potter hulls but I guess it was before 1987. Not that that matters too much as it's still a Seacraft.
I would need it trailered to Jacksonville Florida which I guess would cost about $1400. Does that sound right?
I see your latest price is $17,000. Is that correct?
Thanks,
Peter

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

Nice looking boat! How many hrs on the motor? Also why did you get rid of the vents in the back but left the ones up front? thanks Dan

RWatts23 04-17-2010 08:45 PM

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

The vents help keep air circulating through the bilge which from what I've read helps keep things from corroding/deteriorating as quickly. I closed the ones in the back
1. To keep out water when fishing the choppy Gulf of Mexico
2. It looks cleaner
3. I kept the ones in the front to help with circulation
4. Though not a "Potter" it would not be a classic Sea Craft with out the vents.

Re: 23 Sea Craft 87/09

Richard, I am still interested - Bill in Pa. Been on line looking for transport $$ to the northeast (Philly)- so far $2100 tows the 23 to my front door. I was informed today that I may need to go to Zurich for ~3 years for work. I haven't looked at t-port cost to Zurich, but I may need to put a clause in my re-lo to move the boat. Once my work location discussion calms down, I'll give you a call.
