The jackets are really nice.
Everyone should be proudly sporting the SS emblems. Even if you have an early Tracker.
You can even shave off the ugly TRACKER SEACRAFT block letters and few will know......Yes I feel a little guilty. A little.

Don,
Ken did demo the full range of motion of the sleeeeeeeves.
You know what they say about the size of your grouper.

I just know peanut butter is going to enter the conversation.

Jealous of the royalties from your sticky Sears catalog you`ve been dragging around since puberty or that monster Grouper?
Was that you sporting a grin on page 341 with a soon to be mine Sears minibike with a 3 1/2 Techumseh in 1968?

My Brother hit the stairs to the upper porch head on at speed and went vertical. Somehow he held on and slammed the forks. The good news is the wheels and motor went into my newly designed go-cart built outta 2x2`s 2x4`s and plywood scraps pirated from unsuspecting local building sites. A string for a throttle, steered with your feet, and no brakes. All my shoes had a 45 deg. slant on the heel. Flintstone style. The motor was mounted on the left and I could turn in tight righthanded circles and keep her on 2 wheels forever. Fun in the snow too.

Well Janet is ready and off we go up to Juno for a little Mutton huntin!
Cheers,
GFS

A Pilots History is a great book. All of you that have met or know of Carl would love this book. I have read it more than once. One of the best books I have read.

Re: CSC Emblems - Hats - Jackets, etc. Special Sa

Amen to Todd's comments on "A Pilots Story"! Really gives you a first hand feel for what the guys went thru in WWII! Also provides an insight into what an outstanding guy Carl was, even as a youngster - a top notch math guy, aviator, and navigational wizard. Very thorough, always studied a problem well and did his "homework", in addition to being an excellent judge of people. Once you understand the man a little better, it's no surprise how successful he was at founding, designing and racing SeaCrafts! One can only imagine what else he would have come up with had he not sold out to Potter! Sure can't blame him for wanting to retire and sail around the world, however, after his military career and the intense experience of starting his own company plus having a very busy and successful racing career! Something to be said for retiring at the peak of your success! The days of an independent guy being able to compete at that level are long gone - would take a major corporate sponsorship to do that today! Denny

Send a PM to Carla! She helped her dad put the book together and get it published; she had a bunch of 'em at one time, but don't know how many are left.

Did not know the relationship until these last two posts! Carla, I feel honored! Now I REALLY can't wait for that new book to come out! I toured the plant in Princeton back in 1969 with a friend who bought a 69 20SF and still has it. Is it possible that I may have seen Carl at that time and did not know it?

Re: CSC Emblems - Hats - Jackets, etc. Special Sale

Papa flew right seat in a B 24 named "Hell`s Angel" outta Venosa , Italy Sept `44- April `45. The Tuskeegee Airmen often flew cover for them. Papa loved them. They always stayed with them unless the were forced to engage. No glory hounds, just did their jobs well. Unfortunately the P 51`s had limited range compared to the Bombers. On the 17 hr. runs to the Polesti oil fields there was only one way in and out and of course the Germans knew this. I have about 48 Brownie snapshots from his time there. Some showing the heavy flack and anti aircraft shells they were about to fly through. His best friend and tail gunner died in Papa`s arms on Papa`s 21`st birthday. I have his leather patch from The 485thBG 831`s BS designed by Walt Disney among other things.

I`ve found 5 other Hell`s Angel iterations of nose art. The Sonny Barger connection is interesting.

I would love an autographed hardcover.

Grandpa trained for the Escadrille Americain, but fortunately the war ended before he saw action. My favorite entry in his diary is just this.

Engine failure, forced landing.

What must have been going through his mind?

Cheers,
GFS

Denny, you and Todd are so right.

Thanks Carla,
Santa has his lunch money.
Just starting reading last night and the Germans have already surrended.

The man is a rare combination af artist and engineer. Some engineers are also great artists, but few great artists are also great engineers, or for that matter, great judges of others strengths and abilities.
