Non skid options?

What do you guys think is the best non skid. Has anyone used linex or other bed liner? I have done the awlgrip w/ griptex before, but it was hard to keep clean.

I did the deck of my Tsunami with thickened gel coat.It is a super non skid.I think I could get a running start with fish slime in the deck, and still not slip.

However,I thickened it up a bit to much,so it's a very aggressive non slip.If you did fall on it with shorts on,there would be a bad case of road rash.
It's also a bit difficult to keep clean. If I did it again,I'd knock the texture down a bit with a dry roller before it cured.

Might be overkill but this is what I'm looking to put on my floor this spring. http://www.nonslipcoating.com/marine.htm

I used Linex on my 20 and I am very happy with it so far. It is a little on the costly side but nothing is too expensive for a seacraft. :D

Re: Non skid options?

I just finished looking at a spray on truck bed liner as a nonskid coating for a dive platform. Decided against it for two reasons. It would be great non-skid, maybe too good. Hard to get it smooth enough for my use. Also, I saw a piece that had been out in the weather for several years. The sun had worked on it pretty hard.

look at sea-dek, good stuff and pretty inexpensive cutting yourself and buying 4x8 sheets, easy to clean and soft too.

Go rougher than you initially think you need. Injuries due to slipping on a wet boat deck are costly, painful, and often un-fixable (speaking from personal experience).

I'm about to finish my console, transom, windlass, new electronics, etc. project and my wife does NOT agree with your cost assessment. :o

Actually Ken I'm doing the no tell/don't discuss/keep quiet/it's all good approach....the less said the better. It's when the UPS truck shows up I'm forced to say something, however as little as possible.

Now as far as who wears the pants in the family.....let me get with Tiger and discuss.

This is often referred to as the "Ollie North" approach . . . "Easier to get forgiveness than permission!"
