Possible Sale

I have a 1978 Potter Hull center console 23' with a pair of Evinrude (1993) 150s sitting on a 5 yr. old galvanized trailer. The trailer hasn't been in the water. The boat is loaded with equip. Autopilot, radar, plotter, GPS, Loran, VHF Radio. The transom was just replaced and the hull is in showroom condition. I am thinking about selling the boat. The question is, "What is it worth?"

Re: Possible Sale

What it's worth and what you can get for it in this market are two different things. Unless you have to sell, I would try to hold onto it. Especially with the older power, I'm thinking you'll be disappointed.

Thanks, that is kind of what I was thinking too. I have owned the boat for 23 years, gotten older, and just don't use it.

Re: Possible Sale

Sounds like a sellable unit to me, if it's priced right. Most of what you see is either a restored unit with late model power and a high price. Or a unit that needs everything redone. Both of which eliminate the average middle income fisherman. If your boat is seaworthy and runs it will appeal to a much greater market than the previously mentioned.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU as I encourage you to sell.

How do I post a picture of the boat?

Open an account on photobucket.com. Have a picture file on your computer and upload it via photobucket.com. Highlight and copy the direct link below the photo. Now, in CSC.com, when making the post, click image(do not duplicate the https info)paste the direct link from photobucket into the blank box. That Should be it. Preview post and your done.

I tried it and it didn't work. I also tried the instructions provided in the index and got to step (7) and on the pop up Properties window there is no choice for "Copy/Save" the URL Shortcut.

Re: Possible Sale

That's no "Ragtime" running boat you have there. That's for real and is "Gettin it Done"! Nice boat.

With respect to price: 35-40K ask and let your head be your guide from there. It sounds like it is better than well equipped in terms of electronics, has plenty of "curb appeal" if it is as good up close as the pic's suggest. I am not familiar with those engines, could be a ??, but easily in the 30's to a serious "turn key" shopper of quality. It might take a while to get it.

Re: Possible Sale

Thanks for all your help and nice remarks. Over the years it has been a "labor of love" and all the woodwork (brightwork) on the boat is in great shape as I love to build furniture. The boat originally was a red gelcoat hull and I had it painted red as you see in the picture. The paint used was Concept which is akin to Awlgrip, Imron, etc. After the name and numbers were painted on I had the boat sprayed with 3 coats of clear Concept to give additional protection. Mild soap and water is all the cleaning that hull gets, no solvents, abrasives or waxes.
The hull was painted in 2000 and still looks brand new.

Oh No :o..momentary lapse of reason..the red reminds me of my father's Tsunami/Sceptre a long long time ago and brought back memories (as faint as they are!!)..blues are still my first choice.. !!!
Great loking paint job though!!

Re: Possible Sale

Has anyone sold a 23' potter with out new power for anything near 30k-40k in the last 2 years? I see people asking, but not selling. Great looking Seacraft, but market is terrible! Keep it if you can.
