I would like to do something early this summer - June- of course all are welcome but big ones are hard to get put together.

maybe Ft Desto on Shell Key to cut expenses or further north like Anclote/3 Rooker - Durney Key if no southern folks are in.

If Snookerd or Briguy are in it makes sense, but otherwise for Ryan and Renee and Capt matt thats a long way. So Anclote or Durney Key would be better, if you and DonV were coming that has an effect also. Just a trial balloon.

Yes Sir, Desoto or even Anclote sounds good. I won't have my SeaCraft up here, June's the middle of dolphin season in the Keys, but I have other boat options. Count me in.

Desoto is my vote. Our events seem to pull folks from the East coast too. Regional Gatherings make sense. I can get Brian over there.......

these are usually are done for a weekend, so no camping over there. WE have Shell Is there which is only a quick run in for facilities at the campground. Unless somebody wanted to be there at 5AM on Fri morning - they do hold back sites and its first come. They now have some permit thing even for Shell Is but I can get that figured out.

Everybody from anywhere is welcome but just thought we have enough locals to have some fun and yes its right in the middle of Tarpon season, can't be the first week Susan will be gone

check out the "Anchor Buddy" - its great for us around here - I'm gettin one the 20'

Holliday would`ve loved the band box. I like the Hermida pick up though. SD wanted what? Buch,Lester,and Els for a bat? Oh, and half the farm? I miss the Idiots. Could be a DNA shortfall on my part.

I just checked the Desoto camp site availability...........with only 45 days to go we are out of luck on our standard camp sites. That 6 month lead time aint happening. So, Dixon, our local Shell Island expert.........Give us the scoop on the Hook Island/Shell Island camping option with showers / bathrooms at Desoto Campground.

pretty simple Danny, drive in lagoon, park at the seawall walk to the showers - walk back to boat drive back to island. Actually there is a bathroom at the ramp too, so thats quicker than driving back in there at idle. As far as showers, Dial soap will lather in saltwater and then a few gallon jugs of freshwater for the rinse - 1 gal does 2 people usually.

FYI - no beer allowed - they will check coolers now - so pick a mixer like Coke or Sprite and have a runners squeeze bottle handy of whatever ;) You just can't hide beer

Sandy the place will be over run with Tarpon from the skyway to egmont key and all along the beach - almost as good as Boca Grande

For $25 a hub I took mine in, they found both inner seals and 1 inner bearing to change = $75 total and no worries

weekend of 6/20 is also fathers day - 6/26 is the full moon - which might be great for shrimping but the Tarpon may move out to spawn - the snook will be cruising in front of the campsite along that beach- I will check that with experts on the tarpon

Not sure where that is - Shell Is is the northern boundary of Bounces Pass and the only place camping is allowed

Ken-I will be sure Jenan mixes up some of those pink cosmos for your pink hat! Last weekend in June sounds good! 6/25/-6/27 at Shell Island / Hook Island. Done! How is that for everyone????
Ryan-Maybe we can do 2 regional events so we can get that chance to hang out at Durney Key later in the Summer.........!

I did - 6/19 or 6/26 - the 26th is the full moon and the 19th is Fathers Day which may be an issue with some - there are a few parents that their kids will still talk to them. :D

Ryan, we seem to have 1 from Sarasota and Danny and Briguy so thats where the Shell Is came from and you hadn't appeared yet

It makes no difference to me - Durney Key sounds good and facilities are close there too. That would be a long run for anybody south though but an equally long for Ryan.

You guys kinda decide, I think the boat in Sarasota is not trailerable, its a 25? If in fact he's coming but he was in early but dates may mess him up?

It would be closer for Ken somewhat

No beer issues at Durney either - I think Anclote is too hard to manage

INPUT Please - July is fine also, we have nothing from 6/1 to 9/15

Thats about the only option above - I also saw the actual permit for the first time - wonder what an approved portable toilet looks like?? I have one that sits over a hole but I would bet that doesn't count. Those porta potties are pretty big to get in a boat - bottomline is they want to make such a PIA that you won't come.

Thought about the Porta Potty issue and if 1 boat maybe has one on board we could say that was it - if that boat is anchored off the beach I doubt they would go to the trouble of checking. The ramp is just so close no reason not to use the bathroom up there.

With Durney we would have a few options for the rental house or the marina with showers, and or our house 15-20 min away tops.

Went out to Shell Is, the signage for No Alcohol and No Dogs is quite impressive and no way to play dumb - even for me, which is equally impressive.
Not sure how bad they would be but my guess is pretty pissy and would maybe checking coolers, I'll go on FS and ask about it.

Have not been to the northend of Anclote yet, too windy yesterday.\

The run from the tip of Anna Maria to anclote is 44 miles just as an FYI, most which can be done inside except the stretch between Johns Pass and Clearwater Pass - 13 miles.

Finding a place to camp these days is becoming difficult

We were out there two weeks ago, really windy but the leeward side was nice. The camp spots still look good. :D
Again we would still have restroom facilities at the marina 1/2 mile away, and we could use sun showers or the shower on the big sailboat ( could dock it near the marina) or our house (20 min up river) if no one wanted to rent the cottage.

Since it makes no difference to me - Ryan you and Danny/Brian try and figure something out

I had one report on my question on Shell Is and the guy said he saw no official types at all - 3 or 4 boats might get some interest - as I stated, not sure if anybody even goes out there anymore.

I may be ok to drive a different SC all the way to Durney / Anclote. Shell island sounds good though.
