Welcome to CSC FlyingTime! Now how about more pics and how you came about this real rare breed.... Please don't tell me you have 15 Scampi too!! See ya, Ken |
Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
I'm hoping he says NO on the Scampi........Ken would have a woodie that would never wear off!!! I can see it now, the 27'er, a slew of 23'ers, his 20'SF, the 28' race boat hull (just because he wants it)and the Scampi all in "area 442" at the same time. Patti must be a Saint. :)

Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
Welcome Flying Time. Are you also a pilot? What are your plans for her? Any idea how many were made?
St Patti of Volusia! If he gets a Scampi, his Grand PoohBah hat will surely explode prematurely. :o Cheers, GFS |

Carla dropped the bomb!! How many times have we had guys come on here with hulls close to this one and it turns out to be a Barcone..... Which I thought this one was. Leave it to Carl to have another rabbit pulled out of the hat!!! :) :D Can't wait for "more of the story" from FlyingTime of which he gets a free pass to area 442!!!!!! ;) See ya, Ken |
Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
Ken, I agree with you 100%. I can't wait to here the story on this one as well. Next thing you know, someone will pop up on the site with a cat boat claiming it to be a SeaCraft.

The original Co. that the Moesleys bought and turned into SC was American Marc, which had some cat boat models. Carl and Jeanne both raced cats. Carla said Jeanne thought she was a beter cat racer than the Man. Many layers to the onion here. :D Patiently waiting for the rest of the story, GFS |

Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
A good friend of mine owned this boat. He was going to put twin 200's on her but ended up buying only one at the time with future plans on installing the second when he could afford it. Well, that never happened so he ran around with that single offset 200. That hull would still go over 40! I always loved the boat and convinced him to will it to me... I didn't do him in for the boat though. He ended up buying a cat boat so he gave it to me soon after. It was and is still in very rough shape. I too had my doughts on it being a SeaCraft... First I contacted Bill Potter who was nearby at the time and he came to my office to look at the photos and he told me he what it was but I needed to talk to Carl Moesly. Carl lived in Hobe Sound at the time and drove over immediatly with a huge scrap book filled with old racing photos and newspaper articles from back in the day. We spent hours going through that book and talking about the VDR hull design. I'm not a Pilot, Im just always amazed how time flys... Ken I was beginning to think I was going to get banned from this site! Anyway, I consider Carl and Jeanne very good friends and I have learned so much from them it's difficult to put into words. There's more to this story but I need to get back to work. ;)

Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
Flying High
Based on the FL numbers on your hull , it appears it was not titled till around 1985. What does your title show as hull ID & FL numbers etc? What do you think was the title status prior? Good luck with your rebuild  |
Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
I'll have to check the title... I can't seem to find anyone who knows exactly how it was titled and what is was used for before then. I think it had twin 235hp OMC's at one point. Heard it was wicked fast even though the engines never ran right. Who knows... Could have been used for smuggling for all I know .

I`m curious about my slacker and we are all curious about this one. It must have been quite a sight watching all of the espionage going on amongst the designers and racers back in the day. Thanks for taking a chance on us, GFS |
Re: Red 28' Racing Boat
Hell Flyingtime, the way I look at it, you got at least a foot on everyone on this site; and a rarer foot at that!! YOU THE MAN!!
