Re: Sea Craft 15' Scamp

i have been trying to find info on this boat for 2 years and come up with nothing didn't know it was so rare. Just 2 night ago i came across this site. A buddy told me about this boat it was on an old wood road said it was cool and wanted me to go check it out figured it was crap till i saw it and thought it was awsome so we brought it home had a local warden check it to make sure it was ok he ran the old registration said it was fine and it must had been dumped off cause it need so much work.

Clearly its a fake... just set it out by the garbage cans and we'll make sure it gets hauled away :D :D :D

What a find! Can't tell you how often I and the rest of this crowd scour the back-country listings hoping to find such a gem. Congratulations! Your buddy was right. It is a cool boat. If you get bored with it, please, post it here first. Check that, just call me... :D :D :D

Re: Sea Craft 15' Scamp

Hey Spidey,
Your idea of a gin pole and Mr. Beal`s may be slightly divergent.

Thank you Jake. Are you related to Calvin Beal?

We were sitting here in Key Largo last night wondering where someone might find one of the elusive Scampi`s. I thought one might be found in someone`s back yard here in the Keys. I have family in Me. and am quite happy you found us. We are family here at C.S.C.

Congratulations and welcome to our family. You have warmed our hearts more than you may ever know know.

Please keep us posted as per your thoughts. Many a great undertaking has gone awry due to a well intentioned miscalculation. There is much to learn about the design, construction, and restoration execution.

Cheers,
GFS

My sister Sarah spent some childhood summers on Orr`s Island with the Prince lobstah clan. Her hubby Tom heads up weights and measures at BIW. They live in Bath now. Tom`s family is also/still from the tradition. Shame what the flatlandahs are doing to the coast. Sarah paints the watermen/ coast and has won the Boston flower show twice. sarahgreenier.com

65 Bowrider aka Carla and SkipperTee aka Skip live in K.L. now and we will be chasin` Bugzzz in the morning.

Of course we are curious as to your plans for her.

Bert and I forevah!

Obviously keep it original and don't throw a bracket on it..that would be a sin

If it's got the OMC 155 hp V6 sterndrive setup as original, then either the Merc 3.0 MPI or the Volvo 3.0 EFI will be great, but the newer 4.3 V6 setups are 200 lbs heavier than the original.

Jake-

Thanks for the work you have done to find this site. Your post showing the 15 Scampi is a Homecoming for the motley crew here at CSC. We ALL have been looking for a 15 Scampi. I have family in Wells. Any chance you can post more pictures?? Congrats!

there was a complete omc buick v6 on Atlantas craigs list just 2 days ago, it would be cool to have it back to original

Re: Sea Craft 15' Scamp

I love the fact that the old 120-155 hp OMC V6 225ci stringer-drive setups weighed only 685 lbs. That's 10 lbs less than the current 3.0L Mercruiser 135 hp setup

Re: Sea Craft 15' Scamp

This is wonderful. None of us have ever seen a scampi so we would like to see more pictures of this piece of history. Please forgive me as you are probably for real but I have always been a skeptic. Why is the boat sitting at such an angle that only 1/4 of the hull is touching the ground? How is it maintaining that angle of balance?

strick

They have been building and launching really, really big ships at shallow river mouths for centuries. That`s how it`s done son.

Don,
The bugz were overcooked, the service sucked, and the company was lousy. :D :D :D :o

I don`t have a lot of time now, but I will relay the goods soon.

Down East meets Down Dixie. Sweet. We fish a lot of your boats down here, you just don`t know it. Yet....
