20 FT 1977 Seacraft Sceptre

2005 Mercury Optimax 175 HP profesionally installed in 2006. Aprox 360 hours on motor as of 9/27/10. Included is a reasonably effective trailer which I purchased two years ago. The trailer has had limited use and has been used only to put the boat in the water (May) and remove it (Oct). I have owned the boat since July 1990. Interested in moving up to 23 Ft cuddy.
I'm a new member to the website and would appreciate input from fellow Seacraft owners regardng a reasonable sale price. My initial thinking is in the $11,000.00 range or BO.

If you're a potential buyer, why is your user name on the seller's Image Shack photo album?

I'll help a little. This is a great all around boat with lots of cockpit space, beautiful lines and of course that great SeaCraft ride!

If I remember right our own Capt Chuck got his SeaCraft start in his fathers 20 Sceptre. I have the picture saved somewhere. Boat had twins on it and outriggers. There is a 20 Sceptre sitting in a drive way only a couple miles from were I live. I drive by to check on it from time to time and would have offered the guy some cash if I did not already own 4 SeaCrafts Good luck with the sale!

Strick:
So you have two 25's and need something to fix the gap. A 20 would do well for you and we could "horse" trade a 20 for a 25. That way your fleet would be well filled and you would only need a 18 and a 27 to hold a "flush".

A buddy of mine spotted it and told me about it. Over the years I have trained everyone I know how to to spot SeaCrafts. It's a red I/O with teak hand rails that run the length of the windshields. Cool looking little boat. Dont think it's running because it's been sitting in the same place for a while now.

Ken- DONT DARE ME :D

Sorry for high jacking the thread Billy

Re: 20 FT 1977 Seacraft Sceptre

Hello Capt Chuck - A belated thank you for the message you posted 10/8/10 re: me paying for + posting my '77 20 Sceptre for sale on this site. Thanks also to "No Bones","ET 23",+ "Strick"for their positive input.
For the record. I gave the site posting of the boat pics to Mdoyle95 (nephew) because I was unable to get the pics up for viewing. Mdoyle95 got them posted, then added HIS one 10/7/10 "overzelous" post. I thought his post was inappropriate + told him. Had he checked with me it would not have happened. Apologys to anyone offended.
Fast forward to today. I did not sell the boat + used it sparingly last summer. I would like to advertise it for sale on this site again I have not listed it anywhere else. How does one go about putting the boat amongst the current sales? I would appreciate any advice/assistance.THANKS

You have already paid the fee. You only pay it once.
Now you can keep the thread moving by updating or adding new pictures or any additional comments.

Good Luck with your sale

Re: 20 FT 1977 Seacraft Sceptre

Can you provide any historical details about the boat? Has the transom been modified/strengthened/raised? How much is original? Number of owners?
Thanks. Also, what is a "reasonably effective" trailer?

Re: 20 FT 1977 Seacraft Sceptre

I purchased the boat from a family in Newton, MA in July of 1990.I am not positive but I believe they were the 2nd owners. (I still have their name + #) I have owned the boat since then. The boat has been used exclusively in Cape Cod bay + north to Plymouth. Used for fishing + family (in the 90's) activities. A slip in the Sandwich Marina @ the east end of the Cape Cod Canal is it's summer home. It's currently there but shrunk wrapped + out of water.
The hull is all original. I have done nothing to it structurally including the transom. Do not believe the previous owner(s)did either. I see nothing unusual,(ie cracks, sagging, holes) or out of the ordinary but welcome informed opinions/comments.
When I bought the trailer I relied on my mechanics expertise + he located it. (used) It's actually in good to very good shape. It has no rollers + is what I call a "float on". Padded supports for the length of the hull. Since I planned on never leaving the Marina with the boat + trailer I did not due any detailed inspections/research for over the road use. It is strucurally sound,no rot + serves my purposes extremely well.
Hope I addressed your questions. Feel free to call or respond here.
Thanks for your interest :)
