I heard the same thing while I was down in Florida in September- stopped at a SeaCraft dealer wanting to see the 26- was told he had none and they stopped producing for good- he only had used SeaCrafts- very sad to hear- guess we all have collector items

Re: New Boats

Most of the boat builders in FL are shutdown or on life support. Many of them, like SeaCraft/Mako moved to the Carolinas, and with the economy in the tank down here, there are not many boats being made. I am not sure this industry is ever coming back to what it was 5 years ago.

SeaCraft has been through many changes and owners. My guess at some point someone will pick up the name and carry on. I would bet some crazy guy over in Edgwater will start production along with restoration :D.

Even ProLine is closing it's factory here in Citrus County. There is some talk of a merger or facility-sharing agreement with Monterey Boats 25 miles up the road in Williston, but only an unconfirmed rumor.

ProLine sales are down over 90% from 5 years ago. :(

I just picked up an '09 23TE Seacraft...there should be one or two of the 26MA models left for sale in Fla. I believe they only built these models for one year and then stopped because of the economy...talk about bad timing. I believe they'll build the smaller models on order but am not sure.

A buddy gets delivery of his new 09 32' in 3 weeks. With twin v-rats he stole this boat! It's a shame to hear they are shutting down.

Yes Sir kinda scary, went up to Cedar Key a few weeks ago and the Pro Line plant is a ghost town. Also went by the Yellowfin plant on my way back from Surplus Marine in Sarasota, another ghost town. I think I saw two boats being built. Makes my old clunker, paid for SeaCraft look pretty good!!!!

More bad news for Florida...

Quote a local Carolina Newspaper

There is good news for a troubled boat maker. Fountain Powerboats says it will expand and create 411 jobs.

The announcement was made this morning at their Beaufort County plant.

Fountain says it will invest $5.1 million over the next five years. The plant currently employs 75 full-time people.

The company will move two Florida boat lines, Donzi Marine and Pro-Line Boats, to the Washington plant. A news release says the average annual wage for the new jobs will be $35,657, not including benefits.

The expansion is being made possible in part by a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Fountain is privately owned by Liberty Associates after emerging from bankruptcy earlier this year.

Re: New Boats

I went to the Fort Lauderdale boat show about a month ago and was very impressed with what I saw in new boats displayed there at the show. But that show really is more designed for the larger in water boats.

Lots of new models and designs lots of lookers the place was packed as usually. I went on Friday morning so I don’t know about how many buyers actually picking up boats at the show.

I talked to a friend in the marine insurance business and as of Friday morning he was not scrambling around binding coverage on much.

The Miami show in February will tell the story. If it doesn’t happen there it just doesn’t happen. As for open fisherman boats the short list of boats really looked good. Contender, SeaVee, Yellowfin, Grady, Regulator, Make, Bluewater, Sailfish, Midnight Express, Hydrasport, and such like designs all had a very nice presents.

I did not see SeaCraft but maybe I missed them. If they are a no show at the Miami show then there in serious trouble. Missing 2 years in a row will be a difficult barrier to deal with kind of like having you stock lowered and taking off the New York Stock exchange people will loose their trust in the Co. Future even though it had a great Past

The 23TE arrives in a week or two but will be wrapped...I'll take a few picks and post them for sure. Hoping this counts as an "instant" classic?? :) :)
