Area 442
Well, Area 442's cover has been blown...
We made national news this AM! Have a bad fire just to the south of us. I-95 and US-1 are closed. It is making things a little un-easy here... I will keep you posted if I need anyone and everyone with a trailer hitch on your vehicle!!!! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...x260-14905.jpg The following was what I was heading into yesterday afternoon... US-1 heading south 6 miles to home http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27.../Photo0082.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27.../Photo0081.jpg Heading west to home 4 miles ahead... :( :o http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27.../Photo0083.jpg See ya, Ken |

Re: Area 442

Re: Area 442
What do you say from over 1,500 miles away but be safe Ken and good luck

Re: Area 442
As someone who has run a class 3&5 Wildland Engines I always liked the fact that you a the pond and defensible space at area 442.
Remember if you think it's time to leave you should have been gone an hour ago. Good luck praying for everyone Jeff |
Re: Area 442
PRAYING FOR RAIN FOR YOU! Be safe!

Re: Area 442
Thanks to all for the support!!!!
The worst is over for now. We did get a quick rain after I made the post this morning. :D Then the wind changed direction pushing the fire into the same way it had come.. It was only 5 miles south of the homestead. Had a sleepless night with this bad boy! See ya, Ken |
Re: Area 442
Good Luck, Ken.

Re: Area 442
Sometimes cold fronts are your friends, and some of us to the south. Brought back bitsamonkey and the copter.
Cheers, Sandy |
Re: Area 442
I was hoping the rain and the north wind was working in your favor. Hopefully the scare is over for you, but I'm still on standby if you need anything.

Re: Area 442
This isn't your typical website of common interest. It isn't even a club for most of us. It's more like a brotherhood and as Martha would ssy, "It's a GOOD thing!!!!"
I am glad to hear the danger is passed for the moment and that we pray for you just like we pray for all our brothers here. God Bless you Ken; God Bless you one and all. |
Re: Area 442
Glad to hear you and the SeaMaster were spared!

Re: Area 442
I cannot thank all of you enough!!!!
Even though many of us have never met in person the show of support was overwhelming. As Biglew says, we are truly a family here.... :) My phone rang off the hook today with "how can I help"!! This was a blast from the past in 1998 when fires were all over the state.. It is bed time for Bonzo now.. this old man is whipped! Thanks again and may God Bless all of you!! Sincerely, Ken |
Re: Area 442
Good to hear the fire risk is gone hopefully! I would be glad to hold your 20 over here :D

Re: Area 442
Ken,
Have hitch, will travel! Give me a holler if it flares up again and you need help saving the fleet! Denny |
Re: Area 442
I have first dibs on the Seamaster. I bet they give me three lane`s clearance with my weenie Sonoma.
I still get a kick out of watching security at the ramps. They elbow each other as if to say hey watch this, he`s going to try to pull out the Slacker with THAT. When`s the glassin` party? The weather is just about perfect. Cheers, Sandy |

Re: Area 442
Ken, Glad to see the compound remains green, the Seamaster and TSunami red and the 20 white...Scary stuff... On the other hand it was pretty funny seeing all those dually trucks lined up to help you out. I was in the 95 white Dodge Club Cab...I had called dibs on the red 27 :D :D :D
Reminded me of trying to get my newly purchased Seafari out of Fillmore Canyon before they closed the road @ I-5 a few years back... Glad the burn turned away and gave the 27 another Reprieve. ;) |
