23 is coming together
Ripped out the old transom . . . put in a new marine ply transom with a new skin!! Gelcoat matched pretty well. Pilot console going in Sunday. Now I just have to do some light dusting in the garage.

Very Nice!

Re: 23 is coming together
Hi Tim-
Looking good. Who is the manufacturer of that pilot house? Ed |
Re: 23 is coming together
Looking good, Tim.
Is that house one of the Seamark Minis? Is that Mr Potter's company? Are you going with twins on this one or..? |
Re: 23 is coming together
Looks good Big. :D Cant wait to see it with the pilot house. Did you finish all your hatch and deck work too?
|
Re: 23 is coming together
Gillie and Ed - The pilot house is one of the Potter Mini Pilot Consoles . . . and it fits perfectly in the cockpit of the 23. I can standup (without ducking down - 71 inches of head room) inside the pilot house.
Hermit - Pics coming soon!! |

Bill potter and Trayder hooked me up with the console with a "special deal". Nausetblue helped me get this out of the garage. 1" to spare with the tires off pulling the console out of garage. |

Re: 23 is coming together
anymore of those consoles? I need one for my rig!! Potter console is a nice unit! looks good
|
Re: 23 is coming together
Heynow- There are 2 of already built and sitting in RI (1 with windows and 1 without). TunaMeltdown sent me the pricing and they were around 5 - 6K (Potter's cost to have waterline build them). Waterline Systems, 225 Alexander Rd. Portsmouth, RI. 401-682-1661
It fits on the footprint of the existing console, just a few inches wider on each side. This is nice cause it covers up all the old console screw holes in the floor. |
Re: 23 is coming together
That's sweet, Tim.
|
Re: 23 is coming together

I would love to find one of those larger consoles for my 23! |

Re: 23 is coming together
Tim, looks real sweet, nice, and good too.
Does the pilot house help to keep the snow off you? So glad we don't have that problem in the south! Cheers! |
Re: 23 is coming together
Strick - She splashed about 2 weeks ago . . . top speed with a old 200 merc is 33/34mph (running a 13P prop). I think I can squeeze a little more out of the boat with the combo before commercial bass season opens. I'll post some pics in the next few days.
Carla - We'll see the winter cod fishing has been very very good off RI!! A couple of 12 Volt Ceramic Heaters and some nice canvas and I will be fishing Nov - March. |
Re: 23 is coming together
Some more pics . . . with a 13P prop hit 6000rpm 35mph. 4500 26/27. Need to move up to a 15P and lower the engine one hole.

Re: 23 is coming together

Getting it Dialed in
Got a different prop and boy it made all the difference. 15.25 x 15P aluminum. Not too bad for a 1979 Vertical reed 2.4L v200 non fingerported chrome bore powerhead!! Mind you a mid 80's 2.4L 175 was also vertical reed setup with fingerports. 70 gallons of fuel, 2 big adults, and kicker. Picked up a 15P mirage this week . . . we'll see what happens. Based on today's run . . . I believe I'm getting roughly 2.5mpg with the setup. Not too shabby.
