74 Scepter- potter built- for sale with twin 1991 Johnson 140s. Hate to sell it but no time for a project boat $5000. I'll post pics this afternoon. Boat is in Sarasota, FL and runs great. Call 941-504-3403 for more info.

I only know the 73 Seafari outboard and the 74 Tsunami i/o. Is the transom on your Sceptre original? I don't recall, on the Seafari, the motor cut-out being so wide.

That's the standard transom cutout for all 23' OB's regardless of model up to the Tracker years. Not sure about '87 on though. The Seafari came in 20' and 25' models. The 20' wouldn't have had an opening that wide and I don't believe the 25' ever came in an OB config.

Sorry. My mistake. No wonder I was confused, as I thought this was a 20 Scepter, which made me wonder what kind of boat owner would put 2 140hp engines on the back, with such a huge cutout.

That's what had me confused. He says this is a 74 Sceptre...My dad's 74 23' was called a Tsunami!

It may be a timing thing with the name change. Perhaps up to a certain point in '74 they were called Tsunami before changing over to Sceptre?

I don't think it was big issue, somebody just that copywrited somewhere so they just changed the name.

about how much would it cost to redo transom? anybody? it holds moters just fine but if i dont sell i may repower and put dive platform and hard top.i like this boat better than any other new boat i have found under 100 K. im ready to fish and dive this boat could be down for a while if i keep it.

A general number if you send it out to have done, $3,000 to $5,000. If you do it your self way less than half. My suggestion is to repower with a single 30" shaft 250 -300hp. This is the same combination my brother had on his Secpter, twin 140 OMC carbed loopers - that love gas. He then went to a single 250hp injected two stroke. MUCH lighter and performed better. Your gelcoat looks real nice, just some interior work and you have a very, very good boat for 25% what a new one costs. Just my opinion.

When the Tsunami model was released by SeaCraft that
ticked of the boat company named Tsunami.
Hence law suit, name changed to Sceptre in 1975
End of story.

it sounds like you like this boat as much as me 3900$ for you LOL. I need to sell this to make room for my new boat. im selling all of my used boats and buying a new boston whaler 25 outrage (i think )already have wifes approval. LOL. I want to go spearfishing much more than rebuilding carbs or rewiring trailers. sold my 2002 hydrasport wa 2 years ago and haven't done much of anything on the water since!

nobody likes my boat? by the way this boat will make 42 knots. im not sure about fuel economy. it is also the fastest planing boat ive ever had. probably because the twins

Please do not take this the wrong way, I am sure we all love the boat, but in todays economy and the general condition of the boat, there has been many sold for quite a bit less than you are asking, I have looked at 2 from 1500-2500 that were in shape similiar to yours.

i have never seen a boat like this for 1500. everything works. you could hardly by the aluminum trailer for that.both engines have great comp. and besides needing some paint they are ready to take you anywhere.having said that i would gladly take 3700.this is a solid boat no soft spots!

I'm kind of surprised you still have it. The boat looks clean and it's a 23' SeaCraft. Even in this market that boat is worth what you're asking. Motors and trailer can get you at least a grand each and the hull looks better than any of mine. Stick to your guns - take it out and enjoy it if you can until that appreciative buyer shows up.

Everyone is looking for a steal and there are certainly some great deals out there. At 3700 I'd say your Sceptre is a steal - certainly a more than fair deal. Hang tough and Good luck.

Raise your price and sell it.

Nick we are sticking with the 20 - the bigger boat would be nice a few times a year but a negative the rest of what we do - which is why I bought a 20 in the first place.
